Susan B
Well I took advise and bought IGI 4786 and it works great along with my new wicks. Can anyone tell me why when the melt pool goes clear and it is white when cooled? I put in the usual amount of fragrance and didnt add anything to the wax. Thank you:smiley2:
SatinDucky
That's the nature of wax. Melted it's more translucent than when solid. Is this what you mean?
Dee
Not sure what you mean either. What color is the votive?
Susan B
Thanks for answering. Well yes, the melt pool when hot is clear, but when cold, the melt pool is white. the container candle wax is pink and the melt pool is white. also I have noticed a very large flame, with 62-52-18Z in all size of containers. Help!!

candleessence
Im confused..... When a candle is burning and liquified we refer to the melted wax as the "melt pool" which if there is no dye added to the wax would be clear because that is what candle wax does. When a candle solidifies it will go back to either the "dyed" color of the wax or a white to off- white color which again is what wax does:smiley2: Are you saying that a candle which has been dyed pink-when liquified is clear & then turns white upon solidifying? Susan B
Thanks for answering. Basically, I melted the wax and added the coloring and fragance. everything was fine. the candles came out a pink. then I lit the candles and there was good scent. I then blew out the candles and they all had a layer of white wax on top where there had been the melt pool. I am wondering if it could be the coloring which I originally ordered for soap, but I used some of these in my other candles with a different wax and didnt have any problems. I would be willing to order coloring from somewhere where I know the problem would not be the dye.
candleessence
Now I understand! :smiley2: But can't help, LOL! It almost sounds like the coloring burned off But if you have used it with other wax, Im not sure why it would be doing it with this particular wax. Sorry, but you got this candle maker stumped! Dee
I bought soap coloring by mistake from my local wax and soap place. They were blocks and the fellow who made them said they were not for wax candles because they had a soap base. Maybe that could be it? Beth-VT
You can't use soap colorants for candles, the soap colorant is water based and won't blend. I'm guessing that it seperated and came to the top. You must invest in oil based dyes specifically designed for candles. There are chips, dye blocks, liquids, all work great. HTH.
