kestagano04
I made about 10 lbs of tarts/melts recently with a different scent for each pound. Unfortunately I have a few that are dud scents, I guess they're not that great for the soy wax I am using. Is there any way to reuse the wax? Is it possible to burn off what there is of the dud scent in a double boiler, if it is kept at a lower temp? And then to reuse the wax with a different scent? Is this a stupid question? :embarasse Thanks,Stacey
Vicky_CO
No it is not a stupid question but that answer is no. The smell is burning off the oil itself is not. Your wax will only hold so much oil. When testing to save time and money only do a few ounces at a time.
kestagano04
Thanks, I wasn't sure. How do you figure out how much oil to use for a few ounces of wax?
Vicky_CO
Okay here is an example for 4 ounces of wax @ 6% you multiply your ounces of wax times your percent to give you your FO amount.4 x .06 = .24 That I would round down to .2 of an ounce if I use a scale that only went to the tenths my scale take it one step further so I would use .25 oz. doglover
make firestarters!Ditto!Or have some discontinued or "stray" containers to pour the remelted scented wax into (layers) and sell as "candleshop" candles. Using of the two methods above (or both) you will not have any left over ("wasted") wax. I use both and they work/sell great!HTH
