Silicone Soap Mold Slab or Log?

The Lights & Lather Artisans have been given a gift of a silicone mold to raffle off at the Pittsburgh gathering in July. I am not a soaper and to date have only made a couple batches, so I thought I would bring the question here to ask the "experts". If you were given the option - which would you prefer in a silicone mold, log or slab? I want to make sure we get one that would please the most.

I gave up on my 18 bar slab cause the slab broke when I tried to take it out. But I'd kill for one that doesn't!!! Maybe it was just my technique...

(may we ask which vendor? it might make a difference)

I have 6 silicone log molds and love them

This said, I cannot make the meeting. Too far from here...

I like both. Depends on the look I'm going for.

When I ordered my Silvermoon molds, I custom ordered them to function as both. I ordered the width and length to cut 24 bars in a slab mold and deep enough to be used as a log mold that will give me 48 bars.

24 bars in slab = 3.5"L x 2.25"W x 1 1/8" thick

48 bars in log = 4 logs 3.5"W x 13.5"L (cut 1 1/8" thick bars)

HTH! :grin2:
