sockmonkey
Have you contacted the NY Secretary of State's office, or the Revenue Dept? You might even contact the Health Dept. They should be able to give you all the answers you need.
sudsnwicks
You could go personally to your City Hall and ask them. That's how I got the ball rolling.
MissMary
Try the Small Business website link:http://www.sba.gov/There's TONS of info there and have some sections that give you local addresses of free places to go to get your information in order.I started there and got all the info I needed, plus a few cool online workshops, the links to the right forms, and the local sponsored area. SatinDucky
Trying to read though websites or go by secondhand info was very difficult here (Alabama). The easiest way was to talk to the Dept of Revenue directly. They know what's required and can explain it best.
LaVida
In NYS we fall under "craft" so we need no license...I only have a tax id# and file my taxes quarterly. Also I am an LLC but since I am a SMLLC (single member limited liability company) I am views as a sole proprietor for tax purposes only. here's the OPAL website so you can answer questions and the site will giveyou information that you may need at the end of the questionaire. It's really simple and wasa Godsend years ago. Hope this is helpful...http://opal.gorr.state.ny.us/gorr/pas/pas2.nsf/OPALHome?OpenForm
