OverSoyed
I absolutely love St. Ives Apricot Scrub, and am looking to make a batch.Any suggestions on apricot meal? I saw a few places that offer it, but don't want to purchase a whole pound if it is too rough, or not rough enough!

TheQueen
WSP also has it:http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/StoreCategory.aspx?CatalogID=2&GroupID=11&CategoryID=8&CategoryName=Seeds+%26+ScrubsAs far as roughness is concerned, I would put it in an emulsified scrub, using a smaller amount than say, sugar or even salt, because it is so "scrubby." ReneeM
We do a foaming sugar scrub but I've heard good things about apricot. Are you making it from scratch, or are you going to use a base?
Tracey
Overysoyed-I love that scrub as well. Are you using a base or making from scratch? I would love to make something up similar to that.ThanksTracey
OverSoyed
Bases are always easiest, but I haven't found anything that I feel would work. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them.I like St. Ives because because it is thick, and because the apricot meal they use is the best consistency on the market. I have tried some cheapo dollar store versions, and they use gel rather than the creamy base, and the meal is super gound therefore doesn't work as well. Tracey
I would love to hear ideas as well-for bases. I have tried a few different things, but havne't come up with anything I like as much or that I could figure out how to incorporate the apricot meal into the ingredients in the right place.Tracey
Carriegsxr6
apricot meal is much softer than just the regular gound version. Oregon Trails carries the meal.
schmoopie
My thoughts on it..... because I use this too, on my face....If your face is dry, you could use an emulsified scrub recipe, cut back on Stearic and e-wax and use super light oils and butters..... my choice would be to find a nice thick lotion base and add the ground apricot meal to that...Tea Tree oil is suppose to be a great facial oil, maybe incorporate some of that in there.....hmmmmmmmmm may have to play here a bit...... bet we could come up with something better.Anyone plays with this, please share your results!! Callmaker
I have an idea...Let's take the whipped frosting and add the apricot meal to it...I believe if we added more oils to thin it up just a little then it would come out of a malibu...Any ideas on this suggestion?:highfive:
