OMG trying to but everything we have on the classies would be a nightmare...lol. Going to start advertising in local newspapers and Craigslist. If anyone has any experience selling a corporation, let me know....

We are going to sell the business as a whole.

Well... I have 11- 28 pound melters alone. lol. Fully loaded basement with mass majority being business related, major heavy duty shelving, 6- 6 foot tables. Shipping supplies alone take up 25% of the basement of a 2400 sqt foot house.

We started the business so I could stay home with the kids. My youngest is now a senior in high school. I think I am ready to get out of the basement. It's been great. We have had years that we made $40k but I think I am ready to explore other things.

I am really thinking, after 7 years, being done may be a good thing. I got the kids through school, Company has been successful, we have a ton of wholesale accounts. I think the question really is, have any of you sold your companies and if so, how is the best way to do it?

We bought a new house. No basement, so no room to run business. Anyone else have this situation before?

Oh and he sends the letters through the mail, I think.... he got our po box through our website.

I do have mine still. When I did a search for this guy, I was able to find him. Address match on the return address and a phone number. Creative scam, for sure.... Maybe targets smaller companies who really cater to customer service, just expecting refund checks to roll in. How stupid do these con artist think people are??

Our company just recieved a letter in our p.o. box from a man in Minnesota claiming he received one of our candles as a "gift". He claimed the candle did not have a wick. Said "it was a rip off, useless, worthless and thrown away". He said "I'd like and expect a response and explanation on how this happened." This was a double wick jar, which you can't tell on our website. So both wicks would be missing. He obviously went to our website and picked the most expensive candle. Expecting some company out there is going to bite and be "so sorry" and send him a refund. Those of us who make hand poured candles know the steps... you would have to forget to wick it, and then you would have to not notice the lack of wicks when you went to set the wicks, then you would have to not notice that you didn't have to trim those missing wicks....then when you went to label and pack, you'd have to miss it again. He used wording from our website, yet sent us a handwritten letter. He did not include a phone number or email address. Of course has no idea where it was purchased.... Please don't fall for this bullsh*t. I am not going to post his name just beware of anything like this, especially anything coming out of Minnesota. Address is town of Willmar, post marked from Saint Cloud. Figure he may be hitting up as many candlemakers as he can.... Lisa

Is the INCI for Lanolin, just Lanolin? I need to know because I have some customers with allergies and am looking for a base. I did a search.... but it pretty much just came up as Lanolin. Anyone know for sure that this is what it is listed as? TIA Schmoop

Well we sell Tins for weddings. Our label is on the side so they are able to personalize a top label with their wedding info...... just a thought. AND you need to have a low price point..... 4 oz tins work best.

Well I use the Goats Milk base and add shea to it.......... plus some other stuff. You may want to check out the MP soap swap going on right now, for feedback on the different soaps people are using....

Well that is all fine, and buying in bulk helps, but certainly wouldn't pass the savings on..... My wholesale prices are what they are.... if I can save $$$ somehow:yay: Back to the thread.... it is all about your market, packaging etc......

A delivery fee is a delivery fee, just like handling...... has nothing to do with your taxes. You still claim all the mileage...... just bill like a shipping fee. You are not going to claim mileage on something you ship. I have a very good accountant, so I know this is all good.....

We have tons of wholesale accounts..... we charge a $20 fee for delivery..... BUT we don't have anything closer than say a 20 minute ride ONE WAY.... We have one account that is 40 minutes away.... we charge $30..... you not only have to factor gas in there but your time as well. We also have a $300 dollar minimum.... so that usually equates to 100 pounds of candles, at least. They are still saving $$$..... and if you don't think they are jacking the price up to cover that, you are kidding yourselves. We find that the whole "Keystone" pricing works in their favor. We find most double the price of the candles then add a dollar or so.... EXAMPLE: Linen Fresheners- wholesale was $2.75..... one account was charging $6.55. So people don't short change yourselves..... they make that money up. I know my time alone is worth at least $10 an hour for having to drive it there, much less gas... For anyone local we still charge handling fees for all our boxes, bubble, peanuts..... which is more than most of you are charging for delivery. These people are getting such a deal from you, they probably do the happy dance when you leave! just my .02........
