cybersix
Hi everyone, today I got some tumblers I have to make candles in. The customer is a big company, they want me to show them some tester of candles made with their scent and their tumblers.. Now, the containers are 3 inches on top and 2 inches at the bottom. When i saw them I thought "oh no". How can I wick correctly a containers made like that? What do you do in these cases? Should I advice them that the shape could not allow a perfect burn?I don't even know where to start. I make pillars and I know how to wick pillars that don't have regular shapes, but in a container there would be the chance of not melting the top completely or make it burn like hell when it comes to the bottom.Any advice is really appreciated!!TIA
kandlekrazy
I'd start by trying to wick for the diam in the middle (2.5"??). It may take it to the middle to catch up the sides, but eventually it should. That way it won't be way too hot when it gets to the bottom. The advantages of these tapered containers is you rarely get any soot on the sides like it tends to do with deep straight walled containers. cybersix
Thanks for you reply. While I was waiting I chose an RRD50. Looking at some table it should go for a melt pool of 2.5 inches. So we had the same thought!I didn't think about less soot, but it makes sense. Thanks!
