thecandlespastore
I would suggest going with a base from a supplier for your customer first. Making lotion from scratch, especially for the face takes a lot of product testing, and professional sampling etc for extra germies.I have seen recipes though made with aloe juice, but I don't know how that would keep the mold from growing either:confused: You might find a great base at WSP . They have small samples too that you can try. Lotioncrafter.com also has some great ideas.

Darbla
Have you tried glycerin on your face? I have extremely oily, acne prone skin that I'm on Retin-A to try to control but it is still a mess. It's flaky and sensitive from the Retin-A, but if I don't use that it's an acne-riddled horror. The only thing I've found that eases the flakiness and doesn't cause more problems is a tiny bit of glycerin. Put a drop in your hand, add a few drops of water, rub your hands together, pat over your face. Best. Moisturizer. EVER.Darbla
katshe
Darbla, i will try that today. Is it sticky when it dries.I feel for you , I had issues with a bit of cystic acne and decided to make a scrub instead of trying all those store cleansers that were no help except to dry out my skin.I now use no store bought washes or lotionsMy face scrub is a honey, sugar, jojoba, and a couple tablespoons of AllNatural glycerin liquid soap mixture with stearic and ewax .My customers can't get enough of this scrub..I haven't had any cystic acne since I started using this. Soooo I don't want to mess up with the lotion, My customer that needs this lotion is my biggest advertisement...she tells everyone how much she loves this scrub.Trying that glycerin now! Darbla
If you use too much glycerin, it will be sticky. I tip the bottle against my palm to get a little, then run a bit of water into that. Rub palms together, then pat all over face. Any extra goes on my neck and rubbed into my hands. So play with it and you'll find your happy medium in just a few tries. ExtasyPunq
Theres lots of good places for bases and loads of threads talking about it. Many well formulated lotion bases meant for the body can be used on the face as well. You would probably want to avoid anything with a high percentage of cocoa butter or coconut oil though as those can clog pores. Some of my favorite places to get bases from are http://www.denhamsnatural.com/index.html (great stuff) , http://www.newdirectionsaromatics.com/cosmetic-bases-cosmetic-bases-c-3_67.html , http://www.tclaboratories.com/ , http://www.essentialwholesale.com/ (some specifically for the face and sample sizes available) , http://www.soapersworkshop.com/store/ (I personally have not tried but many love the bases- Shes closed right now though) , http://www.thecandlemakersstore.com/c=4Eq4SA8RhZlws98QWM20lxQRe/category/premixed_bases/ I hope you find something you like! katshe
Oh my, I am in love with that essentials website. Lotions are paraben freeI am thinking of going with the jojoba cream, says it is for all oily, dry, normal& combo skin types...It also has my star ingredient, Jojoba, gotta try it. Only thing I am concerned about would be the coconut oil in it.I wish I had found this site sooner as I am going to be starting to make mineral makeup. Essentials has it already made in bulk , If I fail at making it myself I will definalty be trying their's out. Thanks for the site's ExtasypungDarbla I did try the glycerin and am still trying to get it right, thanks ,I will be using this till I get my lotion from essentialswholesale.I have to try out everything myself first...My customer that needs the lotion is my guinea pig tester , but I always try for a few weeks first. Darbla
Last night I came across a huge thread on skin care at BPAL that had a lot of info in it I'm going to experiment with:http://www.bpal.org/index.php?showtopic=3943&st=0&p=48692entry48692Since I posted about the glycerin I wanted to comment that I may move away from that and try some of these other things.Darbla
