itsmejeffd
Hi Everyone, I'm completely new to the candlemaking world. I have yet to receive my first order of supplies and ingredients (scheduled to be delivered 10/25). Until then, I'm trying to learn everything I can about the process. I know that probably 99% of what I will learn about this hobby will be from experience but I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good candlemaking book? I am mostly interested in container candles and would also like to learn about grubby (or cake) candles. Thank you for any help.
tlc26
Why don't you hit your local library and check out a few books. That is where I started. Then Google and read and research. I really don't think there is any one best candlemaking book. I have copied pages from over 3 dozen. A good tip is to start a binder or a notebook for yourself. Keep all your info there and take good notes as you experiment so you can recreate the candle, or change wick, etc. This board has boat loads of info. Read through the archives. You will be amazed at what you will learn from this site alone!

sharyl55
See if your library has The Complete Candlemaker by Norma Convy. Covers the basics and safety issues pretty thoroughly. Also explains additives very well. And has great pictures of what can be made with wax. Just wish I was that talented.PS Welcome to the CT family and the wonderful and frustrating world of candle making.
