I really want to start playing around & experimenting with some sort of bath whip/butter & I've been looking these over...& over...& over...& over & don't know which to go for. Does anyone use any of these or have any opinions? Good or bad? Thanks so much!:D

The Chemistry Store FBB base already has 2 different preservatives in it according to the ingredient list, as well as, EDTA which assists the preservative.

If you are adding more, you could be creating problems. If you feel the need to add more, please call your supplier BEFORE adding additional preservatives.

There are some bases that do no include a preservative. Research your ingredients so you know what you are working with.

I am one that the FBB majorly dries my skin out. Because the majority of feedback I received stated the same thing, I quit making it. I make my own emulisifed scrub now and everyone loves it MUCH better, including myself.

This is something that I too have really battled with. I make my own emulsified scrubs. And my coffee scrub sells really well. However, none of my scrubs are "foaming". And I see that the Foaming Bath Butters sell really well. They seem to be all the rage at the moment. I'd like to try making them myself as they seem like allot of fun. However, I've not found one base that doesn't have parabens in it. And I heard that the FBB are very drying. So why do people use them if they are drying? Why do they sell so well? Do others add extra oils/butters to them to make them less drying? I don't get it. Can anyone enlighten me on these?

Thanks,

Donna

I find FBB VERY drying, but not everyone does. It may be that my old lady skin is just too dry to begin with, or maybe I'm sensitive to something in it. Adding oils & butters don't cut it for me.

If you want a scrub that lathers try adding some liquid soap (hand made!) or some melt & pour soap to your scrub.

FBB is essentially an MP base, check the ingredient list, they are almost identical. I tried every formulation under the sun with this medium. It was extremely drying to my skin. The only scrub I positively adore made with this is from Outlandishlady. OMG! Love this stuff, it is perfect in every way.

When I did buy it numerous times, the Chemistry store was my best choice.

I have tried mixing in some M&P and I have no clue what percentage to start with. Everytime I tried adding some, it ended up hardening too much and I ended up with a bar of soap. :angry2:

I have some FBB coming in the mail and am going to try my luck with it. I have got some Rosehip oil i want to add to it and some Macadamia. We'll see.
