MsDammit
How does everyone stamp their soaps? I've been using a rubber mallet and the tops of my soap are textured-I've noticed they are either getting flattened a bit or little cracks in them. Is there a trick to doing this successfully? Kimberly
I use a rubber mallet too. I dot have any problems with my soaps cracking. I think the trick is letting the bar get hard enough...but not too hard. Geverally, I cut my soap...leave it laying on the counter...then go back the next day and stamp it. So far, this has been working for me.
Candybee
I stamp my M&P soap. By the time I unmold them they are set up pretty hard. I don't have a rubber mallet so I use a regular hammer for now. (Hopefuly I can get one soon!)The deeper you make your image and the size of the soap make a difference. A deep image will displace your soap while trying to stamp a smaller soap may crack it.So far I have only tried stamping my 5oz soap bars to a depth of about 1/8 inch. Works great. Soap not displaced and no cracking & umage just right. It also takes some practice. Won't discuss the first couple bars I tried.
MsDammit
Kimberly- You stamp the next day? I've only stamped a few times on some bars that were a few weeks old, oops. Next batch of soap I make I'll stamp the next day!! Candybee- You ain't kidding, you should see the first few bars I stamped.:lipsrseal
