ShoogieScents
Are Presto Pots and Pressure Cookers that same thing? Is this the same thing as a Presto Pot? Or will it at least work for the same purpose?http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5751038Thanks,Bobbiewww.ShoogieDesignz.comDesigner Websites, Boutiques & More... caradelrae
Nope, not the same. A pressure cooker is used for cooking foods over a range top. A presto pot is a deepfryer that you plug inHTHCara
kandlekrazy
Pressure cooker is direct heat and could be very dangerous to melt wax in. With the presto pot you can control the temperature of the wax.
Tereasa
And, that pressure cooker is more expensive than a presto pot....
suzanneg
yep big difference like the others said! GET A PRESTO POT~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stella1952
Yikes! :shocked2: Oh LORD no!!!! A pressure cooker is used for canning and quick cooking of foods by using pressure and heat. It has a twist on top that has a gasket to seal it. The top has a vent in the middle that has a weight on it to control how much pressure is inside the pot. Having blasted the weight off a pressure cooker before and cleaned the resulting STEW SPEW off the ceiling, the concept of using one for melting wax sends me into ORBIT!! Wow, I think I am breaking out in hives just visualizing this one...:shocked2:Prestos are nice electric kettles with nice thermostat dials that pull out for easy cleaning and have a nice magnetic contact so you won't knock the thing off the counter if you get tangled up in the cord. They also have a nice glass lid. They do not explode. They do not spew stew on your ceiling. Besides melting wax for candlemaking, they are great soup, stew, chili & spaghetti sauce cookers (don't use the same one as you use for melting wax...). Candlebuddy
What everyone else said ... I got my Presto Pot at Walmart for around $20-$25 ... don't know what I'd do without it.
I love candles
I need to invest in a Presto Pot. I saw the instructions on how to modify the pot and add the spigot - is this hard to do? TIA
Stella1952
I opted for no spigot. To me the trade-off in convenience is not worth the extra cleaning, installation and potential for leaks. It sounds scarier than it really is to cut a hole in a brand new pot! The instructions, however, are very straightforward and many non-plumbers have managed to install them just fine much to their delight. Stella1952
Would anyone care to make a side bet on how long it will take for Bobbie to purchase Presto #2? :laugh2::laugh2:
nursenancy
I bought a turkey fryer w/ a spigot and bought a second within a week of receiving the first. Best thing I ever did! Thinking about a third for palm
