Casey
Yay! We made our (my honeyman is participating, his idea, even) very 1st batch last weekend, and so far so good! It seems to have gone well, and is curing. Scented it with BB's Yuzu-which is heavenly-and colored it pink with a Labcolors mix-which came out a much darker color than expected, but so what! It's soap! (i think, lol)I took a great class locally, made our unstupidvised attempt a lot less scary. It really helped me get over my reluctance to handle lye, I procrastinated for months due to fear. Also, witnessing the elusive trace 1st hand made it all a lot less mysterious. My honey bought me this helmet-goggle thing, almost like a welding hat, which I feel pretty silly in, a bit over the top, but he's insistent. Better safe than a face full of lye burns, he says. Can't argue when it's put that way, but I think I'll be wanting some more demure eye protection very soon :rolleyes2 Ordered bulk oils, and a bunch of lye, and I'm ready to plunge in! Need some EO's-any suggestions on where to buy? Good prices, large selection?

I wish there was classes around her cause I would be the first to sign up. Post a picture sometime...Ginger

jaybyrd
Well done, you! I know what you mean about being afraid of lye - I put off starting soaping forever for exactly the same reason, and now I can't stop. Though I do still stir the lye solution at arm's length.
