casey2
Hi! I would appreciate any advice I could get to know what size pillar to start out with? I'm such a newbie to all of this, I have made tarts and containers so far, but am ready to start learning the basics on candles...Any suggestions on wax and wick(ing) would be great too!!! I really like the rustics and know I have to start simple and work my way up...thanks so very much for your help!!!
UrbanFool
3x4 is my favorite when testing out anything new.
Everito Bandito
I agree with 3 x 4 . Some of the aluminum molds are actually closer to 4.5 in height. You will need to use a fully refined straight pillar wax to make rustics. Not a blended pillar wax. IGI 1343 is a good choice for rustics.
Scented
I think a 3 1/2-footer ... that would come to my waist lol!Make what you want. I used to set according to size and then neat looking mold and now I'm back to just size.

Candle Man
I have to agree a 3" diameter is the easiest to wick & get a good burn. It doesen't matter how tall it is, but no shorter than 3 inches, so you can get good test results.
