garymac221
Hello again everyone. You have all been a tremendous help and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!!...Well..I started making scented jar candles. I checked past questions about curled wicks but no help. Mine are starting to curl down into themselves right from the start of the burn, I'm using a medium, zinc wick for 2 1/2-3 in. jars. My jars are exactly 3 inches. the wicks are trimmed to 1/4 Inch. Do I need to go to a large wick?? Any help is appreciated. Thank You....Gary
SatinDucky
Are you sure they're zinc wicks? I've never seen them curl before, though I don't use a lot of them anyway. Is it the actual wick curling or the mushroom that's curling down? Even a mushroom shouldn't start immediately after lighting... hmmm... Brenny
Gary,I use the 44-24-18z zinc wicks on my container candles and they don't curl.Is that what you are using?
Scented
Only time a zinc has curled on me was when it was trimmed and marathoned burned and even then it was a slight curl (like just the ashes from the zinc)
Lightning Bug
I have a set of eco wicks that curl over so much they put themselves out. Other of my ecos work just fine. Go figure. Of course, the dumbness is, I threw them all in together and don't know which are the curling ones. Duh! Beth
becky0404
Not that it's much help to the OP:embarasse , but I also have some ECO wicks that curl over and put themselves out right from the beginning. Frustrating!!
