JMCintosh
I enjoy making bath fizzy bombs and some times it works some times it doesn't. I also have tried to make them in egg shapes using plastic eggs. and mine break in the middle while trying to get them out. I have had some crack after I let them dry and wraped them. I have looked for a better recipe, I just haven't found one. So now I am just experimenting and trying to come up with something good. does any one know of a better recipe i could try. I also thought I would try bubble bath fizzys. But, when I test them, they fizz but not much bubbles to speak of. Anyone have any suggestions? mountainmadness
My advise to you is to be patient, try different recipes with different oils until you have what you want. IMO- you should find a recipe that allows you to drop a bath bomb and it stay intact and undamaged... especially if you plan on selling them. They should be like a rock.Bath bombs are a dime a dozen but good bath bombs are hard to find.If you are having trouble with them cracking or not staying together, you need to try a different recipe.Once you have the perfect recipe you can make bath bombs bubble by sub-ing the citric acid with SLS. SLS will make them bubble instead of fizz.HTH.Jennifer
elle110
I used to say never add any liquid but oils to your mixture but now I swear by Witch Hazel and my bombs are rock hard. I use a mixture of shea, cocoa and SAO also. You could try your recipe and add a little WH to start off with and go from there, thats what I did and now I swear by my recipe and have them down to a definite technique and can whip them out in no time and they are consistent unless I screw up an ingredient...When you are taking the bombs out of the mold make sure you are not just pulling the mold apart, kind of squeeze your mold until it starts to fall out. Also, wanted to say I am getting quite a following with the bath bombs so the hard work paid off! Could someone post one of the recipes that you find produces this result? I've located several on-line but not having that much experience with them I would like to use one that you bath bomb Queens really like. PurpleHippie
Yes, I have used the search here and located several recipes. I am not sure which would produce the rock hard results discussed here. I thought maybe someone could suggest a specific recipe.

It is called Rita's Rock Hard Bombs.http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=681&highlight=Bath+Bomb+Recipe
PurpleHippie
Thank you. That one is a bit different than the one I was using so maybe it will produce better results. Thanks for your help, I hadn't searched the archives.
SheilaW
I'm bath bomb challenged. I've tried several different recipes and have never made anything that comes close to being a bomb. Lots of crumbles though. I blame it on the FL humidity. Good luck in your quest.

It is called Rita's Rock Hard Bombs.http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=681&highlight=Bath+Bomb+RecipeThis is the one I use. I don't add the alcohol to the mix though, I spritz it in, as I mix. The are very hard.
