1. I live in Omaha Nebraska and I am trying to find citric acid locally to save on shipping. I have been searching the web for a month. Does anyone know where I can buy it locally in bulk, if not in Omaha at least in Nebraska? Or does anyone know how to find it in search engine. Why is there NO suppliers in Nebraska for soap supplies?
2. The tooty fruity was given to me by another soaper in a one ounce sample and it turned the base yellow to begin with. I just had to add more white coloring. Thank you for looking at them
3. My family was scared to use it too. Then my mom saw how hurt I was and asked for some samples. Well she died last Aug. and going through her things I found a plastic folgers can and took off the lid to find all the soap and bath products I gave her ... never used. I guess she was just trying to spare my feelings
4. The green one is cucumber melon, the blue and white one is moonlight path, and the confetti one is tooty fruity. I thought I would be creative. I played hell with the confetti. First 3 try's my confetti melted in the base. Then I finally got the temp right, added too much confetti to the 4th one and had to add more base. It turned out like mash potatoes. And well I think I finely fixed the problems. BOY WAS IT EVER A NIGHTMARE. For now on I am shutting the phone off, locking DH and DD and dog out the house so no interruptions.
5. At what temp do you add shreds, mine melted into the base and you can't even see them. Except the ones I put on top. I'll take pics later on today of them and post them.

7. where is that site i would like to check it out.
8. Those are just beautiful. You are so creative. Wish I had that talent. I have heard alot of people talk about whipped CP soap, I have never tried that, (but would love to) is there a tutorial on whipped CP so I can learn?
9. I have spent the last 2 hours searching for subs for oils. There was just way to many pages to go through. I noticed the do's and don'ts for soaping and alot of info on colors and herbs but, could not find 1 page that has all the oils and their subs for when a person was out of one oil what other could be subed. I feel this would be very helpful for a lot of new soapers myself included.
10. I am looking for a recipe for a hard bar w/lots of bubbley latherand and great condtioning. I tried a basic recipe but it had no bubbles. I have made 3 batches of CP soap in the last week and all three were too soft, or lost fragrance. Then I found one that was posted on another site and it had more creamy lather then bubbles. (I ran them through soap calc.) So I motified a recipe I found and want to know how it sounds. Any input would help. It is a 6 lb batch. (I also ran it through soap calc.) 10%castor oil 35%coconut oil 25%lard 15%olive oil 10% sweet almond oil 5%cocoa butter lye- 13.99 ounces water-36.48 ounces I came up with: hardness 44, cleansing 24, coundition 50, bubbley lather 33, creamy lather 29, iodine 50, INS 168 Does this sound right? Pigment powder as color or cocoa powder.
11. OOPS! I typed it wrong it was safflower 10% so still adds to 100! But if I leave it another day and still same result, can I salvage it, use it to add to another batch or would I have to pitch it? It didn't overheat the pan was cold the entire time. I that in mind about the honey heating up the lye. So I kept it cool. The whole top layer is oil. Not spounge muchy but mash potato mush. I have noticed every time i try to add color in swirls my batch messes up. I may just stick with no color. I looked at it again and after pulling off the freezer paper I had on top to eleminate ash I had oils dripping from it between 1/4" and 1/2" inch laying on top. It truely looks like the soft oils seperated. The mold I used was a cardboard box and it is cold. Could this be the reason? Do I need to pop it in the oven for a bit then wrap up again? Or would that make it worce?
12. I made a batch of soap last night (at 3 AM) Best time no kids no hubby and no dog to interupt. Anywho.... I have been researching for a year now and this is my 5 batch of CP soap. The others were a simple recipe of goatsmilk. This one I made on the soap calc and thought it sounded good. Now I am not so sure. And it looked pretty in the box too, all swirled. But it didn't harden and oils seem to be seeping out all over the top. Did I do it wrong or add too much water? I was afraid to discount any water so I didnt. It was a 8 lb batch. Beginning to think that was my first mistake. superfat/ discount was 5%. oils were: sweet almond oil-5% coconut oil-25% shortning (I used crisco)-20% grapeseed oil 5% olive oil 15% pko 10% safflower 5% sunflower 5% cocoa butter 5% lye -18.47 ounces and for my water 23.14 ounces I combined water, goats milk 12 ounces of caned , coconut milk 13.5 ounces. On soap calc. after running it through came to hardness 39 cleansing 23 condition 55 bubbly lath. 23 creamy lath. 17 iodine 70 INS 146 I made my lye up the night before with just the water portion also added silk. Then turned my hard oils on warm. Just until it started to melt and shut it off since I have an electric stove it would stay hot. When they were all melted I added my other oils and let them cool about an hour. They were kinda cloudy. I added lye water and wisked, then SB for a bit then wisked somemore. Then when it looked like light trace I added the milks, oatmeal ground up and a couple of tablespoons warm honey. And wisked some more. Then scooped some out for mica coloring silver and then the trace looked right so I poured and wraped and left til today. I know it hasn't been 24 hours but I had to peek and didn't like what I saw. it was wet looking on top and mushy. didn't look like it hardened. Can it be salvaged (fingers are crossed (begging to the sky)plz plz plz. ok I'll stop begging now. it is driving me crazy this is the 3 batch messed up and I don't know what I am doing wrong. OH and it has been 19 and half hours since i made it.
13. I am new to making lip balm, using a recipe I found on here. However, I am still finding out about the double pour. So that I don't waste my ingredient or tubes, can I remelt them in the microwave and re-pour them while they are in the tubes? I really cant afford to be wasting. If not, any sugestions?
14. I made a 4 lb batch of soap last night and I know what I did wrong. I just need to know what I can do to fix it, if it can be salvaged. I added too much liquid. When I unwrapped it this morning it was all mushy and wet looking. I could cut it but it was like working with clay or play-do. I am now trying to remill or rebatch it without adding any more liquid too it, in hopes that it will set up good in my fancy molds. Am I doing this right or should I have let it stay in the box wraped up a little longer? It had been 18 hours or longer since I made it. What I did was made a good soap but at trace added about 1/3 cup of yogurt mixed with cucumber. please how can I fix this or salvage it? I geuss I should exsplain more. I added the yogurt and cucumber but forgot to subtract the amount of goatsmilk from the recipe to take its place. Instead I added both.
15. I have heard about adding cucumber and other vegy's to CP soap and was woundering if things like that or even baby food can be added to MP soaps? One person I talked to on line says "no" because she thinks it would mold and the other says she has done it with banana's and it worked great. So who is right? :undecided
16. Thank you. I just shredded a few bars for rebatch and while washing my hands and shredder I realized they were very slimy feeling is that normal? It isn’t going to feel like that when I bath with the bars... will it? Another question I have is ... when I am rebatching and getting ready to put it in a decorative mold do I need to put anything on the molds for like easy release. I read somewhere to use Vaseline on them.
17. 11431[/ATTACH ok trying again
18. I cut the soap I made yesterday and put it out to cure. These soaps were made in a shoe box. Plan on rebatching though. I added honey and oatmeal and realized they don't have much scent to them. Is there any thing I can add that is natural to give it a fragrance? They are for my brother he has alergies to fragrance. Also should I leave then this light brown or add color? What kind of coloring is ok for natural soaps? When do I do the tounge test for PH before I rebatch or after? Do they need to cure for the 4-8 weeks before I rebatch or are they ok now to rebatch? :undecided
19. the exact amounts are:% coconut oil - 28.409090, olive oil - 45.454545, palm oil - 17.045454, shea butter - 9, these are the % of it.
20. I made my first batch of CP soap today and although hubby was freaking out about me using lye. I finally got it done. Keep your fingers crossed. Coconut oil- 28% Olive oil-45% Palm oil-17% Shea butter-9% Water - 13.3 oz Lye-4.9 oz Then I added 1/2 cup of ground oatmeal with 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon for color, and 1 tablespoon honey after brought to trace. poured into mold, put plastic wrap on top to keep the ash away, put lid on and wrapped tightly with towels. No fragrance or coloring. Does this sound about right? :undecided
21. I came across a recipe on line and wrote it down, thought I would try it. But, it is makes 12 lbs and I would like to cut it down to around 2 or 4 lbs. 3 lbs Distilled Water 17 ozs Lye (Sodium Hydroxide) 4 lbs Olive Oil 2 lbs, 8 ozs Coconut Oil 1 lb, 8 ozs Palm Oil 1 oz. Grapefruit Seed Extract (optional) To Superfat: add 3.2 ozs of shea butter to the oils. 4 -6 ozs of essential or fragrance oil Temperature 90°-110° - 4 week cure time How does a person go about cutting it down, and taking out the grapeseed oil? The reason for this is because, I don't have a container to hold a recipe this size and I have all the oils just not the amounts. This is the amounts I have: Olive oil 16 oz, Coconut oil 32 oz, Palm oil 16 oz, Shea 15 oz. If any one can help me by showing me a way to configure this I would be so thankful. I have tried the soapcalc and I am still learning how to use it.
22. I am new to soapmaking and had a few questions about oils. Which oil gives the best lather in soaps? This weekend I am planning on making my first batch of soap, and have these additives in mind: Oatmeal, Powdered milk, and Honey. These are the oils I have: Coconut oil, Palm oil, Shea butter(unrefined),Almond oil, Caster oil, Lard, Sunflower & Soy blend oil, and Canola oil. I have looked for a recipe using these oils and most call for Olive oil. Is there something I can sub for Olive oil?
23. No it was not sealed and the container did not have the ingredients listed. From what I could tell the label said Jentle Soaps and that it could be used to make bubble bath or bubble bath fizzy's. It didn't even say how much to use.
