pinecreek
I know this has been discussed before but I need some help from some of the more experience candlemakers!I kind of went reallly wild with buying Christmas fragrance oils...drove my husband nuts!! Okay, so I of course ended up with a stockpile. Would it be better to just store the fragrances until next season or should I go ahead and make the candles? I guess it would be a great way to test... I have basically been using 8 oz jj and I also make tarts. I do want to start experimenting with apothecary jars and tins. Basically what I am asking, will stored fragrance oils (kept in a dark area) last as long as a candle? I use Ecosoya CB 135 if that matters at all. Hope this makes sense!!Thanks for your help! Karyn
I put mine away from year to year and haven't had any problems. Karyn

gingerinarkansas
I keep all my oils in a cool, dark cabinet and some are a couple of years old and I use them all the time. Some oils I have thrown out in less than a year cause I didn't think they smelled right. Ginger
pinecreek
Hello! Another N Carolinian! Welcome.Hey! Good to know there are other "Tarheels" here! I am originally from PA but have been in NC so long that my husband's family no longer refers to me as "that D*** Yankee!" What's funny about that, though, is that I grew up way more country than they ever dreamed of!!Thanks for the welcome.

I guess I will just store them and move onto spring/summer scents. I have a tomato leaf I can't wait to try... when I told some co-workers about it, they kind of gave me a funny look. That might just have to be something I make for me. I have a tendency to like some of the more different scents. Thanks for the reply! Kaybee23
I also store mine, some of mine are close to 3 years old, but still smell and work fine.
tamsoycandles
I've got a few over 1 year old (when I started). They still smell just fine. Just keep out of heat and light.TonyOh, and I love buring year-old candles. Awesome throw
stacien
You know I have have noticed a slight variance in strength with certain FO's. I store mine in my candle room which is in the basement usually in a cool dark area and I make sure they are tightly capped. I have noticed some of NG's running a little weaker so I decided I am just going to make those particual FO's into candles and just store them. Then when it comes that time of year they should be nice and strong! I have some I made two years ago and when I open them the throw is great, as long as I have them tightly sealed. SoyKandles
Great question. I've stored mine and it's worked well for me. I was hoping I was doing things right!!
Janette
. I have a tomato leaf I can't wait to try...Where did you find the tomato leaf? I love that scent...found a candle with this years ago and have never found the FO. TIAJanette
