MommaD
I have heard several of you mention this when referring to your soaps. What does that mean?
Landa
I think its like a test. Like if you taste a little I think youre suppose to get the zap like a 9volt battery if its lye heavy. Not sure...hopefully Robin or someone else will chime in.
TexasBrat
If you soap is lye heavy and you touch your tongue to it and it zaps ya then you know it has to much lye. It is suppose to be like what Landa said...similar to a zap from a 9volt battery.
RobinInOR
Yup. If you're too chicken (like me) to stick your tongue on a possible 9 volt battery wet your finger, rub it on your soap, then touch your finger to your tongue. A little more controlled..Owwiie... diamondk
How long do you wait before you test for lye heavy? TIA
Sara
Don't lick the batter. That would be baaaaad. Generally it is after you cut them into bars.
Rebecca_IA
How long do you wait before you test for lye heavy? TIAHP soaps should not have zap at all, as soon as finished.CP, depends on (IMO) if you gel or not. Non-gelled soaps take a few days longer than gelled soaps. Gelled soaps within a few days at most. Most of the times this is a good rule of thumb to go by.
