Soy Wax in Soap?

I was on the MMS lye calc and it has soy wax as an ingredient. I gots a lots of pure soy wax flakes, LOL! Anyone ever soaped with it? I havent seen any recipes that call for it.

I had a hard time finding some recipes as well using soy wax, so I just made up my own.

o, how do you like it? What charecteristics does it add to soap? I would think it would add hardness, and some moisture????

I have been doing lots of research and came across a recipe but it called for soy oil, but I will keep searching. I printed out tons of recipes and will go through what I have and if I come across any soy wax soap I will let post it.

I love 100% soy wax in soap. I use between 10-20%. Makes a super hard bar & adds creaminess too.

I have a recipe that uses soy wax...as a matter of fact my son swears by this soap. Says he has never used anything that cuts grease better then His Mom's Soap! LOL And he brags about it to all is friends too....he is 18. Anyway pm me if you want the recipe.

It makes sense. Some people add beeswax or stearic for a harder bar.

I've used it in place of beeswax before. I didn't notice much difference at that low an amount. It might be fun to play with higher percentages to see what it does to the soap.

Maybe a stupid question, but are all of you talking about 100% soy wax that you can use to make soy candles. Ive been making soy candles for a while now and have been starting B & B products as well. It would come in very handy if I could use the same inventory.

Yep. I was asking about the 100% pure soy flakes I use in candle making. I use Golden Brands 415, so I thought if I could use it in soaps too that would be great. I got ahold of a recipe and used it in my Patchouli & Blackberry soap I just made. Of course I wont know how it acts as far as lather/conditioning until about Feb 1st, LOL! But it was really nice to work with.

I made a batch myself, with some unidentified (not golden) 100% soy container wax. Now we wait...
