container candle question

Recommended Posts

I have been making pillar candles for a few years now and I know that wax for container candles is a little different from pillar wax, but my question is.....what is the worst that could happen if I try to pour a container candle using pillar wax  ????

Any feed back will be appreciated.

thanks

The wax will separate from the sides of the glass, like it does to release

from the mold, so it will jiggle in the container. Also, if you repour after it

has cooled, wax will get in that space and it's not too pretty. I've done it

with left over wax for myself and I didn't have any problems.

You can get an additive called microcrystalline soft which you can add to pillar wax. I've never tried it, but its supposed to make the wax more sticky so it doesn't shrink away from the container the same and i think it makes it burn at a lower temp too

If you have lots of paraffin wax, may be worth just trying the additive than buying different wax!
