slyfoxy46628
I'm testing my first jar candle and I used a 16oz Capri jar and 8" zinc extra large pretabbed wick for container bases up to 5". My problem is that the only wax that is melting is the size of a votive right around the wick. There is a good inch around that part that is not melting. Since I am new, I don't know what I did wrong. Can anybody please help me? :undecided
pdevine
How long have you been letting it burn? The rate one should test for MP is 1 hr per inch of dia that your candle is. If you don't get a full MP after that time frame, it could be that you need to double wick (with a smaller wick) this container. I have some fragrances that I use in my 8oz tins and I end up having to double wick them to get a good clean burn. HTH Portia
slyfoxy46628
I let it burn about 2 hours. I guess that's not the full MP. I will try the full time and see if it still does this. Thanks.
pdevine
By the sounds of it, if you've only let it burn 2 hours, then it's sounding like it might be right on track at this point. Do a 2nd and 3rd burn at 1hr/" of dia and see what happens then. Keep us posted. HTH Portia
Candle Man
To re-test after that, to short of burn, you will have to heat gun the top flat again to start over.
