Luci
I got really excited about the delicious creme brulee I got from CS and decided to do a M & P batch of goat milk. I don't know what I was thinking!! For some reason, I was thinking I put two 5-lb blocks in my melter. Got it all melted and ready for my fo. One TBS per lb, right? Well, I put 10 TBS in it. I poured it in my molds and didn't really notice anything except that I was sloppy. Then it hit me!! I had melted two 1-lb. blocks. Is there any way to save this??? I only have 1 more 1 lb. block on hand. Any advice would be appreciated!! :undecided

I bet if you go ahead and remelt what you have plus add the other pound you'll be just fine. Heck, it might be fine how it is.. a little strong, but I bet it hardens up. How does it look now? Luci
I poured most of it in a large mold that I had planned to cut. It all wouldn't quite fit so I poured 2 bars in individual molds. I just went in the kitchen to try to unmold the two small ones. They didn't want to pop out, so I decided to leave them alone. The large one is definitely not firm enough. I think I'm going to wait until morning and melt down part of it along with my one remaining block. I'll unmold the smaller one and try using it in the a.m. shower (if I can stand it). I really like this scent, but too much is ...... well, you know.
prairieannie
Just hang tight! By morning I bet it will have hardened up nicely and may be okay. If you can't stand the strength of the scent, go ahead and remelt and add more base, but if it's not too strong, it may be just perfect! I use 1/2 to 3/4 oz FO pp of soap most of the time.. I'm not sure how that translates to TBS.. I'll go see if I can figure it out and let ya know. I still think you're gonna be okay.
prairieannie
OK, 2 TBS = 1 oz. Hmmm.. So you've got too much~ WAY too much! LMAO!! I was thinking that the TBS wasn't that much oz wise. Not sure how you're gonna save this one from stinking you out of the shower! You may just want to hang on to it until you can get ahold of some more soap base and then remelt it and add it to more base.. Quite a bit more! pamperme
It is MP soap you can melt it back down..and add more soap to it..so the FO is not so bad. Not sure if it is like wax or not as far as adding more FO when you melt a batch down..but I would try it as is..just add more soap.
tlc26
ok! you thought you had 10 lbs of soap right? you really only have 2 right?why don't you take the 2 bars you made add the remaining 1 lb of soap base to that and see how it turns out. Tkae the log and store it wrapped up until you can get more soap base to add to it. Don't throw it out! don't waste soap!
Luci
Definitely won't throw anything out! I remelted just over half of it today and put the 1 lb bar I had in with it. This time I poured it into individual molds instead of a loaf. I think it's still probably too strong. I've got the fo nose, so it's hard to tell. But it feels kinda greasy. I think I'll just wait until I get some more of the same and redo it all. I'm gonna take one of the small bars around to the VFW right now and see if I can get somebody to bathe with it! Ha ha
CareBear
Take a small portion of it and use the 1# remaining to "dilute" it. That way you'll get some useable bars while you wait for more base...
