? very simple lotion recipe

Recommended Posts

Is there a simple lotion recipe out there? I have been searching and wanted to try to do a lotion and soak lavender in the water before adding it to the recipe, could this work? Or would it even make a difference? I needed a very simple lotion base recipe to start playing with, thanks a bunch

I wish I could remember which site I got this from but I don't. I've tweeked this and come up with a real nice lotion. I especially like this with the addition of shea or mango. I don't use the full recommended amt. of Glycerin....and adding Cyclo makes for a nice smooth silky feel. I also add a preservative. HTH :cheesy2:

Basic Lotion

Ratio is 1 part Emulsifying Wax, 6 parts Oil, 2 Parts

Glycerin, 12 parts water. Add fragrance or essential oil to

your desired scent level.

Example

1 Ounce Emulsifying Wax

6 Ounces Oil (Sweet Almond, Avocado, Apricot Kernel,

Fractionated Coconut, Olive or Rice Bran)

2 Ounces Glycerin

12 Ounces Distilled Water

Fragrance or Essential Oil (recommend 0.2 to 0.4 ounces for

this batch)

Heat the emulsifying wax, oil, and glycerin until wax is

barely melted and cool to 110-120 degrees. Add distilled

water and fragrance or essential oil. Blend with stick

blender or and mixer on low until texture is lotion-like,

pour into bottles.

I have a recipe for some mousse that is really easy but it's packed away somewhere. I sent it to Shutterbug and maybe she has it handy?? I got it from the dish and you mix everything in one bowl. MaryinCary's recipe looks pretty easy also. Don't forget the preservative.
