friendlyMOM
Is there a simple lotion recipe out there? I have been searching and wanted to try to do a lotion and soak lavender in the water before adding it to the recipe, could this work? Or would it even make a difference? I needed a very simple lotion base recipe to start playing with, thanks a bunch
MaryinCary
I wish I could remember which site I got this from but I don't. I've tweeked this and come up with a real nice lotion. I especially like this with the addition of shea or mango. I don't use the full recommended amt. of Glycerin....and adding Cyclo makes for a nice smooth silky feel. I also add a preservative. HTH Basic LotionRatio is 1 part Emulsifying Wax, 6 parts Oil, 2 PartsGlycerin, 12 parts water. Add fragrance or essential oil toyour desired scent level.Example1 Ounce Emulsifying Wax6 Ounces Oil (Sweet Almond, Avocado, Apricot Kernel,Fractionated Coconut, Olive or Rice Bran) 2 Ounces Glycerin12 Ounces Distilled WaterFragrance or Essential Oil (recommend 0.2 to 0.4 ounces forthis batch)Heat the emulsifying wax, oil, and glycerin until wax isbarely melted and cool to 110-120 degrees. Add distilledwater and fragrance or essential oil. Blend with stickblender or and mixer on low until texture is lotion-like,pour into bottles. SheilaW
I have a recipe for some mousse that is really easy but it's packed away somewhere. I sent it to Shutterbug and maybe she has it handy?? I got it from the dish and you mix everything in one bowl. MaryinCary's recipe looks pretty easy also. Don't forget the preservative.
