tonyalkay
I just made a hurricane. My first attempt with actual wax made for hurricanes (second attempt at embedding a photo). It is cooling now and my two of my sides are curving in. I am using a square hurricane mold from Peak. Does anybody know what causes this? It is making a curved side and pulling away from the mold. Tess
How tall is your mold? I have never experienced this. Is your shell thick enough (although I dont know how this would matter). Sounds weird.
tonyalkay
I believe it is 6.5 inches tall if I remember correctly. It is the square hurricane from Peak. My sides are in between 3/8th to 1/2 inch in diameter.
Tess
Maybe it is the thin sides. Being that the mold is so tall, they might be too thin. I never have less than 1/2 an inch. I even do about 1 inch most of the time.
tucker
did you use the water bath after you poured it???
tonyalkay
I did do the water bath. Donita told me the squares tend to do that. She suggested that the first time I pour the wax out, add more hot wax to keep the sides pushed out. I am going to try it.
Donita
Don't pour the wax out.....just add more to it as it sinks. Bring it back to the top....then wait until you have the thickness you want and THEN pour it out. Adding wax when it first cools keeps it from shrinking. That's what I meant. You all know that is why I have posted so many pictures. A picture is worth a thousand words. Do you see what I mean now? Donita
