IGI1274 votives

Recommended Posts

I just tried the IGI1274 for votives. They refused to come out of the mold, so I had to refrigerate, then "pound" them on the cement floor to get them to release! I got a nice "mottled" look, but they were greasy and messy. The next batch, I put less FO in, thinking that was my problem.....but I had the same problem getting them out of the molds, and almost no mottling....BUT less excess oil.

I love the scent throw on these and would like to continue using it. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

I did a search on the forum, but did not see where anyone was having a problem removing them from the molds.

Thanks!

Add stearic as Scented suggested, at least 3%. You probably don't want to go over 6% FO with that wax and you could try less. They won't come out clean no matter what you do, so wipe them off and let them cure for a couple of days.

As far as demolding, give them a little more time to settle down and then refrigerate for a while. One thing that helps a lot after refrigerating is to wrap the mold in the palm of your hand for a few seconds. The warmed mold expands away from the cold candle and helps release. Turning the mold round and round while gentle squeezing it helps release also.
