Mnhorsemom
to getting plastic wrap on top of a batch of soap without getting air bubbles under it? I have a slab mold and put plastic wrap over my soap then wrap it in a towel to "cook". I always seem to get air bubbles under the plastic and then my soaps have holes where the bubbles were TIA
Spellkast
I just tried this the other day (since I use it for M&P) and it worked: I spray it with a little bit of rubbing alcohol and it kills all the bubbles..and the ones that are even thinking about coming to the surface! quietgirl2004
Not for me. I quit using saran. I got the wrinkles! LOL. I have the best luck with just using a towel. It insulates but yet absorbs so I dont get the droplets. But thats just me.
Mnhorsemom
Quietgirl, wouldn't the towel stick to the soap if it's not covered with something first?
Janis
Are you using the saran wrap to get rid of ash? If that's the case then just spray with rubbing alcohol. Wait until you start to see ash forming on your soap. Then give it a spray. After it dries, spray it again. Keep going until you have a nice shiny surface on top of your soap. If your using saran wrap for any other reason, like insulation, don't. Just cover loosely with a towel.edited to add: I just saw you comment about the towel sticking to the soap. You could cover the mold with saran wrap without laying directly on the soap. Wrap it taut (sp) around the mold so that it doesn't touch the soap. quietgirl2004
Ive tried doing that with saran too and the condensation drips from the saran to the soap and leaves spots and ash for me. I just pull the towel taut (usually like a handtowel) and I dont have the ash problem.
quietgirl2004
But youre not supposed to peak Janis! LOL Ive never heard of spraying the alcohol on cp. I have mp.Are you doing that right after it goes in the mold or during gel?
Grumpy Girl
I avoid it by leaving myself about 1/4 of an inch of space at the top of the mold and stretching the wrap really tight before covering it with towels. The soap doesn't come anywhere near the wrap. It works for me.
