CandleMaker3D
Anyone know of a great strategy for air pockets? I can usually get rid of most of them though. I get problems 10-20% of the time and 80%-90% of the time this works. Edited January 6, 2020 by CandleMaker3D
TallTayl
I don’t use Extremely complicated molds, but will throw a couple of things out there that may/may not help. for candle wax, I use beeswax. Whether metal or silicone or urethane molds I use a mold release. This helps reduce surface tension and rarely do I get bubbles. for other media, specifically gypsum, I use a mold prep (mold dressing) which also reduces surface tension on the hydrous material being poured. it really reduces the amount of shaking around needed to release bubbles to the surface. sometimes the bubbles can’t rise because the material has become too thick. Adjusting the temp of the wax in the case of candles can help. keeping the material as bubble free as possible also helps. finally, a vibrating table can shake everything loose (if they poured medium is not too thick to allow bubbles to rise).
