I am not sure how thorough the traceability is on soy beans through the processing into wax.

 

Generally, large manufacturers pool all of the crops into one big pile and work from there. Semis and train cars dump all contents into a giant lot to make raw material cheap enough to manufacture.

 

Not even sure if the actual hexane extraction of the oil and hydrogenation are always performed in the US. Soy beans need to be chemically treated with hexane to create the initial oil. You can't just squeeze a soy bean and get oil like you can with olives. Then the oil is cleaned and partially (or fully) hydrogenated to turn it into a waxy substance.

 

Local wax production from local crops would be very expensive given the small relative size of the operation. I'd pick up a phone book and go from there. Anyone claiming to use only local beans, I would demand traceability certification from...
