wgregww
Im looking at getting a melter, I like the direct heat type but they seem like you can change the heating element out yourself if it goes bad, the water jacket kind seems safer and easy to repair the heating element. Also, on the water jacket type I would think you could use some type of oil so it doesn't evaporate. Any recommendations?
awnl
I prefer and use direct melter tanks. I have (3) 100 gallon direct melters that I've been using now for over 15 years. to date I've never replaced an element. They are truly are my work horse. Hope that helps. coachtom
I have a direct heat melter and love it. I did not want to worry about distilled water and evaporation. HeatRite made mine. Two heaters. Works great. Increased our production a ton this year.
