New here- a few random questions!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I've been lurking around on here for several months now. Finally signed up and got up the courage to participate, lol. I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone for being so incredibly helpful with the entire candle making process! Everyone has been so encouraging to me-without even knowing! haha

I'm going to be selling at an wildlife show at the end of April and donating some of the profits to the program. It specializes in educating kids about endangered animals of North America. All of the animals (bears, tigers, wolves, etc.) there have been given a second chance at life :) Because it's outdoor event, I have no idea how many people will show up. I'm told that the average turnout is 600-700. However, this event is expected to have one of the best turnouts ever, with anywhere from 1,500 to 2,000.

For those of you who sell at shows, how much do you typically bring? I use the 8 oz jelly jars, bringing 10 or so scents. Obviously this isn't a craft show and no one will be showing up specifically FOR my candles, but it IS a family event full of moms with cash in their pockets. Who wouldn't want to donate a little money to rescued animals and get a lovely candle in return? When you sell at shows, do you find yourself usually selling out, or bringing too much? I'd love to hear your input!

Also, I'm struggling with which floral scents to bring, since I'm not a fan of floral at ALL. I'm about to put in a big order with candlescience...which of their floral scents can I NOT go wrong with?

THANKS!

Hi Daisy Mae! I love wildlife events.

You will find as many different 'answers' as people who do shows. There's no magic number or formula, and things vary from region to region.

I almost always took too much - I call that hopeful! I usually took at least 6 jars in each of my fragrances that I chose for the lineup. For a floral, I do well with lilac and honeysuckle but I don't buy them from CandleScience. I have had some really nice scents from them though. Maybe someone else can chime in on floral suggestions. Good luck!

CS florals I would have to say honeysuckle jasmine- people around here love it

Lavender- it is the truest lavender to EO IMO and so many people are going herbal now

And rosemary- not exactly floral but again herbal

Those are the only ones in that category I like- some like meadow something smell like rank perfume to me- I am not a floral fan either

If you want to branch out to other suppliers...Just scent has an amazing lilac and elements bath and body has an amazing rose- sensuous black rose- that's about all I got in the floral department! Lol
