Sharon44
I need to purchase some 4oz, 8oz and 16 oz plastic bottles to store oils in. Could someone please tell me where to find these bottles and what recycling # should be on the bottle?
Guest OldGlory
I just checked the bottom of the bottle of FO that I purchase from Aztec in Knoxville, TN. They are white in color, HDPE, and have a 2 recycle code on them. I have had some for 3-4 years. Other suppliers use clear HDPE. If you plug "HDPE bottles" into your browser (search bar at the top of your screen) I'm sure you can find all sorts of suppliers.
TallTayl
PET seems to be the least reactive with most fragrance oils and some essential oils. HDPE often gets that "sucked in" look which shows the fragrance is reacting with the material.
ChrisR
I only use PET bottles when transferring FO's. Too many suppliers use HDPE and many 'suck in' because of the type of FO and they don't do that with PET bottles.
ProudMarineMom
I agree, PET is probably the best choice for FO (after glass). Wholesale Supplies Plus has PET Bullet bottles and shipping is included. Depending on how many you need to order, Container and Package Supply or SKS are great suppliers. CPS has a minimum order, SKS does not. Natures Garden and MMS both have 4 and 8 oz. Edited March 10, 2014 by ProudMarineMom
Turtle Wax
This may sound horribly naive, I realize, but why not simply keep the oils in the containers they come in? Maybe use shot glasses to weigh them out and pour into the melter?
Guest OldGlory
I do keep mine in the bottles they came in (have been doing this for 10+ years). I am not aware of it causing any problems with my candles. Maybe those who transfer the FOs to a PET bottle know something I don't though. I am willing to learn something new! Sharon44
Thanks everyone. I'll check out the suppliers for PET. I'm not transferring my oils to different bottles, but I've got someone that wants to purchase some oil in small amounts and that's why I needed the info.
