Do you have to test FOs in Melt & Pour soap?

I've been doing CP for years and always have to test the FOs, of course, to see if they work well.

Lately, I've been getting into melt & pour and I was wondering if you have to test (I wouldn't think so). I mean, I know you may not like a scent if you haven't bought it before, but in theory, any FO that is soap safe should work fine in MP, right?

I know there is the possibility of discoloration, but that's the only drawback I can come up with.

Thanks for any advice!

Theoretically, I'm a customer of yours and I would like to know about a scent that you haven't tried. I don't know that you've not tried it, but when I get home I find that you didn't tell me the truth about your product. I have 20 friends and we're out shopping or going to a craft show and they spot your booth and want to try you out. I remind them that was where I bought the soap that 1) had the fragrance issue; 2) caused me to break out (though anything can cause breakouts any more, but what do I know? I'm just a consumer with 20 friends); and 3) fell apart and leaked all over my new tile. Etc.

So while theoretically, you might be right, the right thing to do is to know your product and the scent and how it performs etc. A responsible seller, IMO, owes their customer that courtesy.

I took it wrong too. lol.

I buy my scents from NG and I read the reviews before buying. I still buy some 1 oz just in case but then I kick myself for not buying a larger bottle. Some scents I am glad that I didn't buy a bigger bottle so it can really be hit or miss. :)

I probably didn't ask the question very clearly! :cheesy2: Apparently.

Maybe it's a dumb question, but I saw some FOs on clearance that sounded good, but only come in a pound size, so I was thinking that if they didn't work in CP I could use them in MP.

Scented,

that was'nt the type of testing I was referring to at all. i meant testing a one ouncer before knowing if you want to buy a whole pound of it.

Ahhh. Well I get a bunch of ozers and I just mix them with others on occasions to have something to do. If all you do is soap, I'd start asking for reviews on the fragrances and go with someone you think you trust. I'd say check out that soap fragrance board, but it isn't exactly updated either but you might get more guidance from there should it be listed. Once upon a time we did 8 oz and then that wasn't enough to do candles and soap in type of thing or even incense. So we moved to pounds, until we started drawing in too many pounds and a lot of what became slow movers.

It was easier to use up a pound though. Now we're using 8 ozers as testing sizes to see how it fits the applications we put it in.

Now as far as if it doesn't work in CP would it in MP, sometimes MP is the better thrower and sometimes it doesn't work. Hate to be that vague about it. One thing though, I found less morphing in MP, but I still can't make myself go back to it.
