  1. Hello All...So I am currently testing a 3.25 Diameter Straight Sided Jar using 6006.  There is still 1/2 jar of wax remaining - but I notice - it seems like the wax is too "SOFT" at this point and the wick is falling / moving in the pool. So my question is...Would I be better off pouring a "HARDER" wax? - in the bottom to help stabilize the wicks or would adding a cooler burning wax that don't burn so hot?  I like the idea of the cooler wax...but not sure. Is there a Cool yet Hard wax??  Please if anyone could chime in....any suggestions on this and what wax I could potentially use? Thanks.

  2. I have ordered from Rustic Escentuals, (Their Apple Pumpkin Strudel is very nice) - Natures Garden, (they have a very nice baby powder scent I recently used for Baby Shower Candle Favors.) I have also ordered from The Flaming Candle. - Their scents smell pretty promising. I still need to get those oils into wax. WSP - I have used some of their scents but mainly for lotion and soap. --  I will check out that Sandalwood FO. The Tobacco Caramel also sounds interesting.... I will add these scents to my scent list. Thanks.

  3. OK - So all the listed suggestions are a great start. Gail, I would imagine the Lemon Pound Cake has no fuel smell? I went through my notes to a tester and noted it had that dreaded fuel smell. Just cant remember where I purchased...will have to double check. I will also look into a few of these suggested scent categories. As far as the masculine scents go...I personally like masculine scents in soap...such as the Green Irish for example...but for a candle?   I got to wrap my head around the masculines in a candle. I would like to offer just one or two to start, then see where it leads. As far as leather...LOL...I dont think I want my house smelling like leather either. I will order some, a give it a try and see what it is all about. We do have a lot of Farmland here!!!  Also, can't go wrong with apple pie and spice-less apple scents. Great Start of suggestions!! This really helps.

  4. Thanks for the responses. Everything as far as customer base will come together as I did in my ice - cream business...the customers drove the business!! So if someone was to ask me - for some suggestions for some start offs for Italian ice flavors... I would give a few suggestions...to start...and also as you stated Night Light I would definitely clue them in to listen to what their customers wanted...but I would definitely suggest they carry cherry. Because I know for a fact I could not go with out it. The people would have a colored cow if I did not have cherry. It was a nightmare when I ran out. I learned quickly to keep a spare tub in the truck freezer!! But with that being said...I have a totally different Idea than just wholesale accounts. -- Also, breaking the bank is not the issue....I have many scents...and Love Fruity Scents....And I just get carried away!!LOL!! If I start to order I will keep going and going...Oh...I don't have that one....I wonder what that smells like....next thing I know...it is in the cart. Lord knows, I just want to stick to my purpose. That was why I asked here. I may have some year rounders such as Downy Fresh? Not sure if it sells year round,  but It smells really good....so if I have to order...I want to evaluate the suggested few and only purchase the ones that I do not have!!

  5. Hello,

I was just wondering...I know mainly Bakery / Spice / Pine Type scents are some of the main scents for candles in the fall / winter months...but I am searching for unisex masculine scents that is a year round scent, as well as a few Fall / Winter scents that are found to sell all year. Also is there a minty, floral, or baby type that sells year round also? I am trying to not go on an FO Rampage.... I would just like clear my head and to just order a few to test for my Candle line up. So please, if you have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate your help! TIA.

  6. For all who use this, does it seem to have an odor that stays in the product, over powering the fragrance somewhat? I had some of this Brown in color Vitamin E before, and I used it in lotion. I did not use much, but It had the same smell that I cannot stand that are in some name brand lotions and body washes, where it you can smell it through the lotion. Its like the fragrance goes away and you are left with this smell that leaves the top of your throat sore. I wound up throwing that batch of lotion away because at first I thought maybe an oil had went bad. But I discovered the smell was coming from that VIT E. - I do experiment with reg vitamin e, but wanted again to purchase this type of Vit E due to its supposed benefits. - I just cant stand the smell that comes through the FO. I am thinking to purchase it from lotion crafter. Has anyone noticed that smell and is there anything else that is odorless that I can use for lotion that can aid in shelf life extension?  Thanks.

  7. Hello Fellow Crafters....Could you Please help me out. I am going back and forth with my decisions on using Sweet Almond Oil in my lip balm due to the possible allergic reactions one could have. ?  I do understand the product must be labeled accordingly.  Also, for those that do not use SWO - what would be the other best choices of carrier oils to use instead of the SWO?  I currently will test with Sunflower oil. I did make a batch with Soybean oil, but to me  - it has a Greasy Feel.  Any help will be greatly appreciated! TIA.

  8. Hello -

So I am about going crazy with the HTP wicks moving close to the edge of the container even after the candle has set for weeks.  I would like to try my hand at wood wicks - which I did before , but the flame keep dying. I made this candle sometime last year and decided to revisit the wood wicks. This is a 16 oz flint jar with a 464 blend. The diameter is 3 1/2 inches. The wood wick is a large wick.  I trimmed the wick to about a 1/4 inch.  Should I have left it longer??  I am still left scratching my head. Why does the wick die? Is it too large?  After relighting a few times, it did finally reach the edge, but the wax was black and nasty. I think I have seen where people use double wicks. This is just a single wick. Maybe I should choose another supplier...Please - Any suggestions?

  9. OK - Just to report back. Not sure what gives. So I upped to 10% - and wow!!! Just the throw I was looking for. As you said Candle Rush, throws like 5 minutes after lighting after about a 2 week cure. No burnt wax smell either. Weirdly,  the cold throw was too strong for me, but the hot throw was perfect. Now its just up in the air if I carry the scent or not. 10% is a bit much. - But hey- we will see.

  10. Hello-

I am searching for a true honeysuckle scent.  I recently smelled a sniffer in the YC Spring Scent Magazine. To my nose, it was a true honeysuckle scent that I smell in the spring time when I walk out my door. I have the smelled honeysuckle scents, which indeed were very dull strong, but the sweet notes were missing.

The sweet notes takes the beauty of the scent to another level. I am very particular when it comes to trueness of a scent. So any recommendations for a true honeysuckle  scent and supplier - I will greatly appreciate it. TIA.

  11. Hello - I understand that floral and fruity scents are more for the spring time. But are there any Bakery Scents and Suppliers that anyone can recommend that does well during the spring?  Also I am looking for a really good Blueberry Muffin scent. I know Candles and Supplies had a really good one some years ago. I am not sure if they still carry that same one or not. But I would appreciate your recommendations. TIA!!

  12. That's what drives me a little beserk.... Cargill says 6% and the CS site says 10% max fo.  I would imagine it depends on the suppliers- as one suppliers oils may be stronger or may not have all the same ingredients as others. So...if i up it to 10% FO - is there an additive necessary for C3 wax so more Fragrance can be used?

  13. Does anyone find that they need to use more than 8% of mac apple in C3 wax?   I am using Mac Apple from CS. The cold throw is definitely there. But when it burns, the hot throw is there, but seems to be lacking. - Its hard to describe, but seems to be just short of a burning wax smell. I will up the percentage of FO but would rather use less if possible. If you have suggestions on another fresh apple type scent that throws well at a lower percent, please chime in. I'd appreciate it.

  14. I have tried CD and Premier wicks. I just ordered some HTP wicks. I am testing 16 oz. Masons and also 12 oz. Status jars. I did a replacement of an eco wick in one mason jar blend on last night.  But the Straight soy, It has nothing to do with the melt pool actually. I do not like how when I first light the wick,  it burns down, and even though I trim the wick pretty short,  the wick is already long again, creating a flame size you may expect after burning 7 hours or so.  I do like the burn of a soy blend better, as the flame don't grow tall so fast and the pool spreads evenly across.   But I would rather - if possible - have an all soy candle with burn qualities of a parasoy blend using the smallest wick possible.  I have some USA and will try it. I am just hoping the flame still does not grow - even after trimming.
