  1. Just wondering if anyone has any problems with the clamshells closing so tight that they mess up the wax and sometimes dent and/or rip the plastic when trying to reopen them. Very frustrating!!!
  2. I have to say that I have never ordered from there where there wasn't something broken or missing. That being said though, I have never had anything but nice customer service and they have always been very good about fixing whatever was wrong. It is kind of frustrating to deal with the mistakes all the time but good customer service goes a long way There is one company that I really wanted to try out for some fragrances but they were soooo rude on the phone and acted as if they could care less about my business (small as it may be) that I refuse to order from...regardless of how good their products may be.
  3. Good news. I just got off the phone with them and they said that the 1 ounce has been discontinued but the 2 ounce has not....its just out of stock. I am in desperate need of these so I hope they get them in quickly. Does anyone know of another good place to purchase these?
  4. I wish it only happened with straight vanillas for me but, it seems to happen to one degree or another even with my blends. I have vanilla voodoo in my stash somewhere so I will have to pull it out and give it a shot. Thanks:)
  5. I get them from the webstaurant store as well. I normally order the 1 ounce cups and when I went to order them yesterday I got an email stating they didn't have enough in the warehouses to fill my order. I havent had that happen before so I called them to check on when I could expect them and she told me that they were being discontinued by the manufacturer. So after I got off the phone I checked the website and sure enough they had been taken off but the 2 ounce cups were still there so I ordered them. Thought everything was fine until I got another email again stating they didn't have enough to fill my order. I didn't get a chance to call them about this but I'm scared now that these too are going to be discontinued. I will keep you all posted when I get in touch with them
  6. Thanks for making me feel a little better But now my new problem is....my portion cups that don't cause the stinky feet problem have been discontinued. I just cant catch a break on this LOL
  7. I am so bummed...just went to order these portion cups and was told they have been discontinued from the manufacturer. Does anyone have any other suggestions for replacing them other than the standard round ones from sams or walmart?
  8. Sent you a pm...cant wait to get this started!
  9. I am in need of a new printer as well and was wondering if anyone has one that has the option to print one label at a time? I do a lot of specialty/custom labels for people and sometimes only need one of a certain label. It has gotten far too expensive to print out an entire page for only one label. Also clarity is very important. My current Hp is ok but even with full ink levels certain pictures are not crisp, colors take on a glare of sorts and the color that is on my computer is not always the color that comes out of the printer. Thanks!
  10. I asked this in the wickless section but haven't gotton anyone to bite so I thought I would ask it here too. Is there any way to prevent vanilla and or cinnamon fos from morphing in plastic containers? They aren't doing it in my #5 portion cups only my clamshells (which I don't know the # of the plastic). I don't want to sell all of these in portion cups but can't stand this weird smell. It only affects the CT but its hard to sell a creme brulee that smells like stinky feet. Any help would be greatly appreciated:)
  11. Thought I would put this in another thread as my other one was getting too long I just started experimenting with these and have been really liking them. Now the question is how to label them as the lids are way too small to put all the info on like I do with my clamshells. I have done some searching and have looked at several other competitors but the info on them seem to be all over the board. I have seen some with labels and some with only the name of the fragrance written on the top??? Does anyone know what is exactly required on labels for individual portions such as these or any labeling tips they would be willing to share?
  12. I have been struggling with this for as long as I have been making clamshells and I just cant take it anymore:angry2: It seems like all of my vanilla or cinnamon based fragrances take on a very stinky smell, a mix between smelly feet and plastic, in my clamshell molds. It happens almost immediately once I put the cover and sometimes even right after I pour. It cant be my pouring temps because it only happens with these scents. I use a parasoy and have poured anywhere from 140 -160 and get the same result everytime. It doesn't affect the hot throw at all, only the cold throw so I am at a total loss as to what is happening. Now, I just recently starting using portion cups as well and to my surprise, no more weird smell. The portion cups have the little 5 in the triangle on the bottom but the clamshells....who knows. I have purchased them from various suppliers including bcn, rustic escentuals and have an order in for more at eclamshell now. So my guess is its the particular plastic that makes the difference. But, what are my options? I don't want to sell all of these fragrances in portion cups solely but I cant have them stink either. Does anyone know where I could purchase higher quality clamshells that are made with the same plastic as the portion cups that I could use for these fragrances or any other packaging suggestions? Any help would be really appreciated
  13. Well, count me in I think your description sounds spot on to what I too think a true ocean scent should smell like. The only thing I would add is a salty component. I really like both salty sailor and cactus and sea salt but they both need a little (or a lot) of ??? to make them smell more realistic...imo. Just let me know how much of each you think you would need of each and I would be more than happy to send them out. Maybe if we could find a formula that wasn't too complicated we could just use the raw ingredients and not have to have anyone manufacture it for us. This sounds fun!
  14. Would you be interested in being the mix master if we could get a group of us to send you samples of all of these so-called "ocean scents" that we have on hand? I am not great at mixing yet but I know how it feels (and how expensive it is) to constantly search for a scent only to have one disappointment after another. I love the smell of the "real" ocean and would be elated if together we could come up with a close fragrance match. I have salty sailor from daystar and cactus and sea salt from ics that I would be willing to send to start the party:)
  15. I would love to see what kind of color you are able to achieve.
  16. Thank you all for your replys....I'm glad to hear its not just me:) I have managed to get dark blue with navy liquid dye and also the color of jewls819 with a regular blue liquid dye from c&s but am at a complete impass with getting my desired light blue. It is so frustrating to me that I refuse to add this fragrance even though I love the smell. I never thought of coloring them light brown and adding an embed...that's a good alternative if all else fails:) Is there anything out there that can effectively mute yellow or orange colors??? I have seen light blue blueberry muffin candles and tarts around at craft shows but of course never wanted to ask them what they did or used for fear of offending them/crossing the line.
  17. I have a blueberry muffins fo that I love but the oil itself is a yellowish orange color. I really want a light blue candle but no matter what dye or combination of dyes have worked so far...they are always coming out green. Does anyone have an idea as far as what color I could use to combat the color of the straight oil to get a light blue. Seeing blue is a primary color is it even possible? TIA
  18. I don't know the exact size but it is less than 1/2oz. I have gotten them in the past and they are quite small. Enough to get a good sense of the oil though. I think I managed to make one tart with the sample bottle but that's about it. HTH
  19. Thanks for all of the suggestions! I have several of them in my "to try" box so I will have to pull them out and get them in my wax:). Black Tie Affair- Thanks for sharing that formula... I had never thought of it that way before. I just want to know that the people buying my products are getting the very best product for their money, so I tend to obssess a bit. For those of you that add your fos at a lower temp is it because you think they burn off if added over say 180 or is that the temp recommended for your wax? I normally add mine at 185 and stir for two minutes or so and pour at around 150ish. Seeing the only fos I seem to be having troubles with are the more vanilla or bakery based I am wondering if those types of oils do better when added cooler. Seeing they tend to be heavier I would think to incorporate better they would have to be added at a warmer temp but maybe not??? I am not asking these things to avoid testing, I am continually doing the testing, but I am having some issues with my sniffer lately. With all of this pouring I am doing I think I am developing major candle nose...I am having a hard time smelling anything somedays:(.
  20. Thanks ky-sam! I ordered this one last week and have it in melts right now. I think my search might be over...it smells sooooo yummy! I hope it smells as good burning as it does oob, because it is exactly what I was looking for:)
  21. I actually just ordered the patchouli honey from Elements and put it in melts last week. I hate to admit it....but I like it. I normally gag at just the thought of pouring this fo but this one is really nice, even for those who don't care for the scent normally. It also rocked as far as throw in my melts. I finally popped it out after a good 24 hours just because I needed a change.:smiley2:
  22. I use a fair amount of CS oils and I just got done testing their very vanilla which came with great reviews. The ct was awesome so I was really hoping this was it. The ht didn't disappoint, it was actually very, very good, but again around the 7-8 hour mark it began to fail...major disappointment. I have a lot of different waxes here from past experiments so I would be totally open to trying anything if I just had a clue as to what??? Sometimes I have a few fos that I just love that wont throw worth a darn in my normal container blend so I try and have a stand in wax for those cases which has worked quite well for me, so maybe I just need a stand in melt blend or wax for my melts as well. Does anyone have any recommendations as what I could try or could anyone share with me how long they expect out of say a vanilla or cake type fragrance?
  23. Just a question about how long are some of you guys getting for hot throw from scents such as vanilla, creme brulee, bnb, etc. I am struggling to get a great long lasting throw from scents such as these and I am at a loss. In in order for melts to pass the test they need to last at least 12 hours and with my wax blend these are really the only ones that I cant get to go more than about 6-8 hours with what I consider great throw. Having noticed this trend I tried several other combos suggested here with either the same or worse results. I guess my main question is am I expecting too much from this family of scents? I am testing around a 1 oz clam and am currently using a parasoy blend. Any help would be greatly appreciated as these are my favorite types of scents. Thanks
