  1. I had a request for some scents that I currently carry. I have found them through different suppliers but was wondering if anyone else using these and knows where the BEST can be found...even if under a different name but same scent! I am making 1oz melts in soy

    Hansel & Gretel's House

    Country Gift shop

    Twigs & Berries

    Mulled Spices & Cider

    Snickers Coffee Blend

    Starbucks Coffee

  2. I suppose I would be upset if email was the only form of communication available in the world, but I think there's still phone service.

What happens if they have email trouble and can't fix it to get back with you? Then you wasted a lot of anger for nothing. I happen to have two different email services that both function on the lucky you, you have mail philosophy. Many times it just parties in cyberspace. So to me, if you don't get an email, try the phone, or try the phone first and then email. If you get no where, then yeah, be pissed.

I have to agree with you Scented about the phone call!! Not only could they be having problems with their emails or whatnot....your emails could be going to their "Spam/Junk" mail folder....the only reason I say this is because that is what happened to me. I had a lady place an order and 3 weeks later call me to say that one of the candles were broken and the box had look like it went through a war zone. When I asked her why she didnt contact me right away...she told me she had started emailing me the day she recieved them and every day since. Knowing that it wasnt true....I had NEVER got an email from her and I check my emails daily....I went ahead and replaced the candle. A few days later I was bored and started looking at all the jumk emails I had gotten...needed a laugh anyways and sure enough...there were her emails!!

But yeah....I would be mad too about the over charging of shipping! I hate when you buy something from eBay....pay a CRAZY price for shipping only to see that the seller used Media Mail and paid 1/4 of what you gave them!!!!!

  3. Got mine today too!

Hello my name is Stephanie and I own a specialty retail shop in Arkansas. I am looking for something new to add to my current stock. I am very interested in your candles and would love to see a product sample of your craftsmanship if you offer a chance to sample them as I am very picky about what I put in my shop. I also think it is important to see how well the candles burns and smells. Thank you for your time and I look forward to speaking with you.

  4. What scares me, is that you saw that candle tonight and that recall was from January, which makes me think they are doing the same thing over and over!

Or....Dollar Tree didnt pull them from the shelf. I went into a Dollar General last week here where I live and had to tell them they had dog treats on their shelf from that recall....I am just praying no one bought them....the manager said "I never got a note telling me to"...WOW....makes you think!

  5. Ok ladies what I do when I make my sugar scrub is..

If I am using 40 oz of fbb I add 40 oz of sugar to it.

If I have 4 oz of liquid oils I add 4 oz of sugar to that.

I whip my fbb first than add the liquid oil to the butter and rewhip making sure not to over whip. When I add my preservative I only figure it on the sugar because the fbb all ready has preservative in it.

I carefully add preservative and fragrance and fold this into the mixture.

I don't use a KA because I don't own one. I have a regular hand mixer. I haven't had any problems with my sugar dissolving.

    Hope this all makes sense.

Are you melting your FBB ? I bought some from your co-op and haven't played with it yet.

  6. I made cherry and blueberry ones almost just like those....(my buckets are a little diff though) ....but I made some last summer for a craft fair and they sold SO good! I ran out and had to take orders for them.

They look GREAT bet they smell yummy too!!!!

  7. i personally am not going to worry about a lawsuit, as long as any product i made is labeled correctly with any warnings that are necessary...

it is just like some soap i seen on someone's internet site-not sure who-but it was popsicle soap.... and it looked like the real thing....

just something to think about.... as long as you've got your tail end covered, i would sell these products in a heartbeat...

    Heather

I would sell these too and wouldnt think twice about it...and as long as I do your part and label them with all the warnings then I would feel good about it...but on the other hand I also know that if for some odd ball reason...one of my buyers bought it and a child ate it and got sick or whatever....I dont think I could live with myself....just like if someone bought a candle from me and went to bed with it burning and burnt their house down I would feel the same way....its not my fault ...and yeah with my "tail end is covered" (LOL..I like that one!) I wouldnt worry about a lawsuit at all.

Selling these would be no different then any handmade item or store bought item....it's kinda like to each their own deal....

These would go PERFECT with my food candles....I am TRYING to get myself to make food shaped soaps too...so yeah I would be one of the ones who would make it and sell it.

  8. I agree with this. I wouldn't send her the link to CT. Besides, if she comes here, she'll find this thread. :cheesy2:

Well heck....I figured after meeting everyone....she would run the other way...LMAO...JOKING!!!!!

No really....I have seen newbies come and go...if someone really wants make candles and or b&b...I say go for it....but that doesnt mean I'm passing on tricks I've learned...or where I get my supplies.

I have found though...that 75% of all questions I have got from people are other candlemakers....and members of boards like this who just wants to see the reply you give...or want to know where you get something and instead of just asking...they give you a story...blah blah blah....

Then most newbies (dont mean on here only) who want to learn or think they do...after realizing its not just sticking a wick into a jar and pouring the wax....change their minds.

I guess I have been TO nice for sending them this way..LMAO...though if you type anything about making candles...this site comes up!

  9. I would say as long as you put a warning label-and probably bigger print, that it was for external use only...

otherwise, tons of bakery candles, cute little soaps/tarts that are shaped like candies, and even bead type jewelry, etc. would not be safe.

It would be the parent's responsibility for keeping it out of the reach of children.

    Heather

You know....you are 100% right...but just like the person who orders hot coffee...spills it on their self and then sues cause the coffee was hot...you just never know.

I think they would be good sellers though!!!

  10. huh...that almost sounds like the same lady who contacted me not long ago!

She contacted me through my yahoo messenger one night...told me she was a candlemaker...was working on REALLY BIG candle orders etc...then started asking how I made mine...where I buy my supplies and I told her to come here to candletech.

I havent heard from her anymore...and I waited to see if she would join and contact me but nope.

  11. This may help you out. Make sure you read lots about safety and how to's on making soap.. It is important to read all about lye safety! You will be addicted once you start doing cp. It looks like you have everything you need for this one from crafty1 AJ. there are a lot more simple ones in the recipe section, too. Good Luck

    Thank you!!

I made soap one other time....I cant remember what it was...but I got the recipe from here. You dont have to worry about me & lye..LMAO...I'm scared to DEATH of the stuff!!! I have my lab gear ready.....LMAO
