  1. I know every time I go somewhere after making candles, have someone tell me how good I smell...my latest was maple walnut fudge, I had gotten it on a check and went to the bank and the man at the counter said "I don't mean to sound forthcoming ma'am but you smell so sweet. I told him I had been making candles and got some fragrance on the check. He ordered a candle right there. We are walking advertisements...LOL

Haha!!! I love it!!! That is something else. Said you smelled sweet and bought a candle. How about that!! Maybe you can run into more like him.

We are walking smelly good ads lol :)

  2. Oh, my new friends...just wait. I have left my home after a thorough hot shower/shampoo and arrived at events to have people walk up and say "you smell yummy" or "you smell like pumpkin pie spice, etc"...it permeates everything in your home when you get going...

    ☮,

    Brandy

I must say I'm totally down with that!!! As long as its the pretty or tasty smells!! But wow, for it to smell after hot showers and shampoo thats some strong scents!!! But that is awesome.

  3. Those look very nice. I like the shape of your tarts. Fruit Loops, I haven't tried that one. Is it a good fo?

Definitely a good FO. A must try!! Smells just like the real cereal. No has any trouble figuring out what that smell is. I had company last night and as soon as they came inside, they said , Hey, I smell fruit loops..it smells so good in here!!!

  4. Stearic acid will harden the wax somewhat. And it's not summer anymore. I make tarts from C3 which is almost as soft as 415, but I don't expect them to hold up in warm temps - and they don't disappoint me! :laugh2:

Glad they turned out well for you!! :yay::yay::yay:

    Thanks Stella!!

What soy is best to use for tart making in warmer temps so that they do hold up well?

  5. You know thats gotta be what happened. Way too much FO. I used a whole ounce of FO for 1lb of that paraffin.

Please do not laugh at this.....I'm new so what do you expect lol. But the box did say low oil content on the front. So

does that mean that it will not hold as much? If so then thats definitely gotta be the issue.

  6. The 415 worked out so perfectly for me. Not soft at all. Just simply perfect! I was nervous going in and using the 415 for tarts because I had been told that it would be too soft. But luckily I tried it out anyway and just turned out wonderful.

I added a tsp of stearic acid and 1 oz of my FO.

  7. Haha I did!! I'm so thrilled. They smell so yummy!

I did make a tiny little votive with left over wax ( not even enough to fill to top of mold )...and went ahead and lit that. But I think I jumped the gun on that one because it didn't smell strong.

But oh well!! My tart smells good enough to eat while melting on the warmer!

    Thank you all!!!!

  8. Okay so I figured since I had 7 tarts that I could spare to melt just 1 to see if they smell and have a good scent throw. I just made these a few nights ago and they are my first ever. I used 415soy and Fruit Loop FO.

Let me tell you.....I have this tart on the warmer maybe 15 minutes and my whole Living Room smells just like Fruit loops!!!!

Soooo doggone happy right now. Just had to share :)

  9. Ok so I woke up this morning and the candle and the tart I made last night are just plain ugly. I'm even embarrassed to have them sitting out on my counter right now, and think I will just dump them in the trash. They are nasty!!! What a huge let down. The only thing good I can say about my experience with the paraffin is that it does hold color much better.

But...I'm just going to buy some liquid dye and stick to soy wax. It's so much creamier and pretty and just looks so nice. And it's so much easier to clean up the mess!!!

  10. Yeah I'm sure it was probably was just a bad cheap brand of paraffin wax. And maybe someday I will try some more, with a different more well known brand. But for now, I think I'm going to just keep on keeping on with the soy wax. When you try something for the first time and it doesn't turn out very well at all, it normally ruins it for ya lol....But like i said, maybe one day!

Hmmm a soy challenge between me and Stella......I don't stand a chance I'm certain of it!! LoL

  11. Okay so tonight I tried the paraffin wax and boy was I let down big time. The difference between my soy and paraffin experiments are huge!

The paraffin was just yucky. The tarts I made were oily and wet, and the container candle I made was all sunk in, as were my tarts. And clean up was a nightmare.

My soy turned out beautifully. So I now know, I want to only use soy wax!

Just thought I would share :)
