  1. Hey if that's really him and not a google-photo, at least he's a good looking fraud? XD
  2. I love how they say that their candles are unique because they smell AUTHENTIC to the description.... Isn't that the point of a description? To describe what the scent smells like.. exactly?
  3. Very helpful to know! I don't leave mine on 24/7... I find my bulbs burn out faster. The warmer I use is the "Candle Warmer Etc." brand but I'm not sure of the light wattage. Either way, I burn mine typically from.. 4-7 hours a day nearly every day of the week when I remember to turn it on. I've learned though that even though I can't smell it (got used to it) they are still throwing strong. My family came over today and said that's all they could smell. 3 cubes from Thursday to Sunday and it's still throwing strongly to others!
  4. Wow that's a long title. Anyways, I have recently started using Ky's tart wax and I absolutely love it. It throws better than anything I had previously experimented with... However... I have a feeling that I'm not doing something 100% right. I've read that soy, well really most waxes, should be cured a certain amount of time before burned to ensure the best possible throw. Mine do have a great throw, but I have notice them... wearing off after 3-4 days---is that normal (2-3 cubes typically)? So how long does Ky Para-Soy need (in your opinion) to cure to ensure its' best throw? Also, any other tips with using that wax? I'd love to have some expert opinions from those that use it.. Thanks! I'm trying to get everything I need to know all written down/typed up because I finally got my new house which means I can dedicate my entire back room to setting up a place to make tarts and candles.. finally!
  5. I think it's something similar to that Sharon. When I first got it, it was.... thick and squishy. Now it's super thin and dry so I think it is something similar to those air freshener cones. The scent was Black Raspberry Vanilla if anyone is curious.
  6. I can't remember if I bought Pumpkin Pie or Pumpkin Pie Spice (can't imagine there being much difference.. >_>) but I will let you know!
  7. Thought I'd share this.. I got a travel tin as a gift (I think I mentioned it on the last page) and this is after having it open for about 1 week - 1 1/2 weeks. It is completely detached from the tin, no scent at all, and it is pliable so I'd say it is gel. The scent itself didn't last more than 3-4 days overall and that was with it open just a little bit.
  8. It's really interesting to see the changes between users and their areas. See here, we don't have Yankee candles. It has never caught on there. No one sells them because Circle E is the big dog in Texas, they have the free-standing tarts but those aren't as great of sellers as their candles. Plus the fact that I have noticed their tarts don't have nearly the smell of their candles.
  9. Okay so my mother and I got into this little debate last night over wickless (tarts) vs. wicked (candles). She owns a flower shop/trinket shop here in a small town and sells my tarts and Circle E candles for the moment. She has seen (at least here) a massive drop in the amount of actual candle sales and a fairly large rise in tart sales. People are still buying the candles, as Circle E is the big favorite around here, but more are leaning towards the tarts it seems. How is it for you? If you make both, does one sell better than the other? It makes me wonder if the tart popularity isn't due to the ever increasing (smothering) Scentsy sales everywhere.... I know we have 3 sellers here in a town with a population of less than 10k.
  10. Ah, I guess I over-looked the bit about it being Droid specific. Sorry about that!
  11. There's a thread on down about SquareUp. I looked into it and it is pretty neat, on top of looking like it is super simple to use. Plus it direct deposits to a bank account if you have one set up.
  12. I ordered something here a few months ago that this happened with as well. I got two tracking codes, one USPS and one from this funky company I had never heard of before. I thought "okay.. whatever.." and days went by.. a week went by.. approaching 2 weeks and I'm more going "now what the.... is going on?" so I emailed said weird company and I was told that they don't update their tracking daily and USPS wouldn't get tracking info until it was in their hands. Long story short, it took it nearly 2 weeks to get INTO USPS' hands and then another 2-4 days for USPS to get it to me.
  13. Where do you non-Etsy people post your stuff (ignoring FB, blogs, and the like)? I was looking into hosting a website with a simple shopping cart, but I don't know where to start!
  14. I haven't had the time lately, but my last year of college I really got into making necklaces because it calmed me down. I haven't done it in a long time, last necklace I made was 2 for christmas (niece and grandmother) but haven't touched my stuff since then. I definitely couldn't teach but I learned basically trial and error and then I got some books at Hobby Lobby, oh and a lot of online tutorials --videos mostly! I actually made a lot of my own pendants (resin pendants) which was pretty difficult but I liked it. I tried to make bangle bracelets from resin but I never got the method down good enough so I quit that.
  15. For some reason, I have never thought about the badge labels! Thanks for all the replies! Whisper Girl- I did exactly as Georgia suggested you do. I just googled and there are a ton of warnings out there. I picked a sentence here and there to get what I wanted on mine. Edit: I actually have one more question. I am horrible at getting them on straight, how do yall put yours on the clamshell? I assume by hand but what if they are crooked? Mine are always crooked.....
  16. For those of you who put labels on the top of your clamshell package..... Where do you get them! I have searched the internet, and I fail immensely at searching.. I know that, but I have yet to find one that is the PERFECT size. I ordered some labels from VistaPrint, but they are too small in the width! Perfect height but the width is off, and with theirs you can't change the size. It would also help if I knew EXACTLY what size the clamshell labels should be..... I've messed around making my own with those Avery sticker sheets, but that is just horribly annoying to me.
  17. Glad to know that about that specific supplier... that is just sad to me that someone who is supposed to run a reputable business acts like, well worse than, a child to their customers! They weren't on my radar for purchasing FOs from either (though I have looked at her site) but I think I'll definitely stay clear from her. That stalking thing really creeps me out..... paranoid much?
  18. Thanks for all the responses. I wish you knew where those beads came from ksranch! They sound extremely interesting. I think the whole reason I was asking is because with the "free-standing" tarts you can make them look so neat (like cupcakes mentioned earlier!) and with the clamshells you really can't, but I do find them easier and customers tend to go for the easier thing.
  19. What, in your opinion, are the pros/cons of both? Currently I use clamshells, but I just love the designs that one can make with the free standing tarts. So what do you prefer to do and why?
  20. I have the.. medium size I think and I usually try not to put more than 3 in at a time. I find 1 on its own isn't as strong as I'd like it to be but 2-3 is just perfect for me, especially in my classroom. It makes the entire hall smell
  21. Thanks moonshine! Next time I go to Walmart or Target (no meijer here, don't even know what it is!) I'll check around to see if we have something like that here.
  22. I've just been using some left over small party cups (not dixie size but the next size up) and I haven't had that happen before! I guess I need to wait when I'm measuring so that won't happen again.. it wasted quite a bit of oil.. =(
  23. I learned something new tonight. Lonestar's Fruit Slices FO will melt a plastic cup. It is one of my mom's favorite scents so I was making her some tarts. It is the first one, EVER, that I have had do that. I measure out my FO in plastic cups because they weigh the lightest. They're only an 1/8 oz on their own (with top rim cut off) so it's easy for me to see how much FO is in them. Tonight, I made my fruit slices and I turned around, the cup was melting and oil was spilling out. I need to find a non-meltable way to measure. How do you do it while we're on the topic?
  24. I have one that was given to me as a gift and I've had it open for about 2 weeks, the smell is nearly completely gone unless I cram my face down into it. I haven't the slightest what it is made of though. At room temperature it is just.. bouncy like jello. It's not greasy or anything when you touch it....
  25. Considering he couldn't even get the punctuation correct in his own name... I'd chalk this one up as a scam. Oh, plus the fact that it NEVER said anything about candles. He just says "PRODUCTS" so that tells me it is a form email on top of a scam. Delete it!
