  1. I make about 10 lbs of the aroma beads at a time. They have been a big seller in little sasha bags or I melt into shapes. I live in Florida and never had one melt in the car. The profit margin is good because of volume.
  2. You will need to buy extra clips any way if you plan on cutting the wood wick. I usually cut mine in half and get 2 candles for the price of 1 wood wick just need extra clips. I get mine from Aztec.
  3. Sad to say No This summer I've been soooo busy just trying to keep up with current orders and my full time job I have not had time too. I don't want to rush this process with out truly having time to test properly. I'm hoping to start to slow down but our season is approaching way too fast
  4. I went to the Aztec Convention last weekend and spoke to the IGI rep about the new 6055. It seems to be great wax and IGI is very excited about it. The wax will come in 10lb block form and not flake. I was lucky to get samples of the new wax. When I get a chance I will be testing the new wax soon and can't wait!
  5. Yes they are. I contacted him prior to my last order and asked the very same question.
  6. Today I received a e-mail from Only Fragrance stating they sold the company and will no longer be selling in the US. I just placed a large order with them and I'm hoping I get it. I will be emailing them today but according to the email they will be selling the rest of their stock on Ebay. The new company will supply oils to a Hispanic Client base exclusively to Puerto Rico. This stinks! I have customers who love the Coconut Beach and now the hunt to replace begins!
  7. The price of my wax has gone up and I need to switch The company I use has raised their price again and using them is no longer cost effective. We are going into season now and I need to start testing the new wax before I will sell anything. I do have a stock of tested candles so there is no super rush at this time. My question to everyone is what type of wax do you use and why you love it. I use Ecosoya PB for my pillars - Still in Testing Phase. I like this wax so far except for frosting. I use Crafters Choice SP for my containers. I like this wax because it has a smooth, creamy appearance and excellent cold & hot scent throw. Tops are smooth and if any problems they can be fixed with a heat gun. The bad side is wet spots and now cost! Thanks for all of your information! I am addicted to candle making and this forum. I will be making votives and pillars tonight I can't wait !! Bill
  8. Here is another selling tip. Always try to put the product in their hands. Oh you have to smell this and hand them the candle or product of your choice. Its always harder for them to put it down and they just can't walk away as easy....lol. Tip two and three... Always look at your customers eyes and read their lips for what they are saying. Most of the time the customer will say the fragrance they like to a friend or to them self... then hand them the candle.....lol Its like a sport and its fun
  9. Here is the problem, I've had fee's of $25 and sold over $500.00 and others shows with higher fee's where I sold less then $100? Its just hard to predict. I always take way more then I need and always hope for the $1500 dollar day.... lol
  10. Predicting is the hardest part of the sales aspect. My only advice is bring more then you think you will need. If you dont have it you can't sell it. It is hard to guess the buying trend of a market. Are you the only candle person there? 3000 people is a small event but if the fair is in a particular area a smaller buying crowd is better then a larger crowd thats just looking.
  11. I hate to waste a good test candle. I cut the candle flat with the wick still in using a heated up saw blade and a tourch. I then use the old wick to pull the new one through. I attach the old wick to the new one with a needle and thread end to end. I then pull the one out and snake the new wick in. You just have to be careful not to pull too fast or you can break the thread. If you break the thread you just use the needle and thread and see of you can thread the needle all the way through the candle and use the thread to pull the wick through. It seem like a lot but it works....lol
  12. I've been using the Eco Soya PB for my 2" and 3" pillars. The cotton wick I'm using was good for 2" to 3" candles. Works good for the 2" but tunnels the 3" so I just had to bump up my wick size to 3" to 4" candles. Now I'm going to be testing it to see if its the right size. I have several poured and will be pulling out the small wicks and snaking the new size in them to test.
  13. Everyone stay safe! I moved from South Jersey about 20 years ago to South West Florida. Now I have two more reasons never to move back... earthquakes and hurricanes.
  14. Now I'm worried!! I just placed a big order based on the reviews, but if it does not work well in candles I can always put it in soap since it is body safe also. When I get my order and makes candles I'll let you know also. I use soy for my jars and pillars but I dont think it will make much of a difference what wax its put in. A sinker is a sinker....
  15. I made my wick holders by using popsicle sticks. I drill the holes where I want them and no need to buy the fancy ones. I also cut and glue sticks together so they line up perfectly center in the jars. Its amazing what a hot glue gun, a drill and fine tooth saw can do for candle making. I also use the plastic pipette's to set my wicks. I cut the narrow bottom and the top for short or tall wicks. This way to hold the smaller wicks you just squeeze the pipette to hold.
  16. I perfer lids for my candles personally so thats how I sell them. I feel it keeps the sent in the candles for the customer and when you put out the candle, the smoke from the wick is kept in the jar. Plus when the customer opens the jar the cold sent is strong and they get a good smell of what the candle smells like when burning. JMO...lol
  17. I have not used paraffin only soy pillar but I dont think you will have a problem. I would still spray with a mold release and if it gives you problems just stick it in the freezer for a 1/2 hour to an hour.
  18. I am so thankful you are all back! I am a new member and have been learning so much! I was going through detox.
  19. Walmart sells coconut oil then I would add olive oil, shea butter and caster.
