  1. Well they never sent me anything to say yea or nah. Someone must have said it was dead on, because they put it in their line up, but I can tell ya, it wasn't me.

Well they never sent me anything to say yea or nah. Someone must have said it was dead on, because they put it in their line up, but I can tell ya, it wasn't me.

I should not have ordered a lb of it before trying it.  I have got to stop doing that!

  2. So send it already ... I'm thinking of sneaking this into my storage ...

I think we've agreed to send the 1ozer of gold to AFI, after OG tries it. I really, really wanted to send it to FCC, but I had such trouble getting HT with their fOs in my wax. Their scents are wonderful smelling OOB, strawberry is the best I've smelt, better then Sweetcakes Strawberry but can't get any throw. It's a shame, but not switching waxes at this point.

I bought straight from AFI to see if their Sugar Cookie Royale is the Moonworks Dupe, it's very, very good at 6%, think could go down to a much lower %. My sniffer is really off right now, so I don't trust myself & will be getting opinions on it, as soon as I can get samples sent out. Which is looking far off  from the way I'm getting things done. I'm taking some to puma, who will give to OG & then she'll get it done!

OBTW, Sun & Earth from FB is not so good, I can't stand sniffing it, BLECH. At some point I'd like to send the 2 FOS to you to compare. If that's ok.

  3. If your worried about a taller flame with a larger wick, try trimming your wicks shorter. When I first start my burn test, if a flame is too high, I extinguish it, trim it a smidge and relight. Works every time.

The problem with using a big wick & trimming it shorter to make it work is: what happens if a customer doesn't trim the wick that short & the wick gets huge & something awful happens. It is a pain to keep testing, but customers don't always follow instructions to trim short. HTH :)

  4. I recieved my wicks yesterday along with a new fragrance from candle science. I rewicked a previous candle and I burned it ( I know I should let it cure but I was in a bit of a jam) and my God it was perfect. The rewicked candle was made with igi 6006. Then I made 4 new candles.  A stragiht edged 90z jar wicked with the LX16 using the Comfort blend and candle science Rasberry Macroon.  No cold throw no Hot throw but perfect flame.  UGH..So now Im thinking should I change wax, should I change fragrance?  That IGI 6006 and the peppermint eucalyptus was pure heaven...Im here at work just thinking about getting back to my presto pot and trying some other avenues.  I have an event on the 4th and now I decide to experiment..Smart huh? smh

Let them cure longer, or it could be the FO doesn't work with your wax. It's much easier to replace an FO than a wax system.

  5. After so much difficulty wicking straight 4627, I decided to try ChandlerWicks suggestion of 60% 4627 with 40% 4786. I'm currently doing burn tests with 6% FO and a dark dye. The color is not as vibrant but I actually like the depth of having something a little more opaque since I prefer strongly colored candles and this allows me to use less dye. The throw is awesome. Glass adhesion is a non-issue --I've been heating my containers but I've found that even if I don't, I still don't have any problems with wet spots especially with small to medium containers. I like that I can trim my wicks without disturbing the wax around it. I do find that I have to do a second pour --regardless of whether I heat my containers or not-- which I really don't mind. I had to do that anyway with straight 4627. No sink holes but just a very slight dip towards the center that would probably be imperceptible to customers. However, once I noticed it and corrected for it with a small repour, it made all the difference in burn tests.

    Try heatgunning also.

  6. Wow, that  is a really nice burn with those 2 eco 6's.

What I did per Old Glorys suggestion is try 2 Premier 765's instead of 2  755's that I was going to do after I pulled the 750's and wow mine did great too.

Only thing is I didn't have the 765's anchored down and one of the wicks fell over but it did beautiful.  Looked just like your wicks Tracy, melt pool and all.

Well I'm ordering a package of wicks today and a few other sizes too since so I can finish my testing.  Then the candle can cure some too as there was no throw with mine as it had only sat 2 days b/4 I lit it.

Please post when  your done if you have decided on this wick.

    Trappeur

The depth & width of the MP is slowing down due to hardening & curing. Ht isn't overwhelming either now so may need to go up. Have to wait & see.

  7. Just a sec.... I may be going senile and perhaps missed it, but you aren't both using the same wax, correct?  I thought that you, Trappeur, used a soy wax, whereas you, Chandler, use a paraffin combo.   "Confuzzed" here, lol

What's new with your confuzzion, HEEHEE!  I'm using 464 in the tureen, 4627/4786 in madisons, Palm in status. But of course that could change at any minute. i'm not the one that does parasoy.

Thank-you again, it is so beautiful!

  8. Thank you Trappuer and Steve, I really appreciate your input.  I think I am going to have to try Vanilla Voodoo.  I will have to go to the site and see what else looks good, I have never ordered for them.  Yet another supplier...will it ever end  *shudder*

She's really. really good. I don't care for all of them, but most are awesome. You really have to follow her %s because if you use too much, it can distort the scent.
