  1. I was going to post a thread and ask the same question. I ordered on the same day as you did and I have sent two emails with no response. I would like to know if my order has at least shipped? Not a memember of The Dish. If anyone pm's the owner would you mind telling her that there is a thread here that she may want to take a look at?

  2. Does anyone have any creative space saving techniques to store wicks and FO's? I currently have a ton of wicks and I have them stored in individual zip lock bags with the type and size written on the front. As for FO's I transfer them to glass bottles so those are all on the very bottom shelves of my cabinets. I am trying to re-organize my work space and thought you guys might have some suggestions.

  3. So when blending soy and paraffin which set of instructions do you follow for temps. to add FO to the wax and pouring? If the soy I use is normally poured at a cool temp. 125 or lower and the paraffin is poured at 145-155, which temp. would I go with if I combine the two? Does combining also change the percentage of FO that can be used?

    Angela,

I would be interested in your candle test results whenever you have time to complete them. Once again, good luck on the bar exam!!!

  4. Marie!!!

I was wondering if you were still around the board. I checked the member names not too long ago to see if you were still here! Glad to see you posting!!!

Working with this soy has been a major challenge. I have a lot of this darn CB wax so I have to find a way to make it work. If that means I may have to use paraffin to get a decent throw then that's what I'll do! As long as the soot isn't as bad as the last time I used J223. It was the kind that made my walls black, and the white carpet and the drapes...:undecided Let me make sure I have this right...you are using 14oz of soy and 2oz of paraffin or is it the other way around?

    500!!!

  5. Thanks for the help everyone! What is the largest percentage of soy that I could use in a blend and still have good scent throw? I see most of the blends that are sold are usually 50/50 or 70/30. So would it be 30 % soy? I am willing to experiment with the J223 again if I have to. I have to find some use for this CB 135 wax. For soy/paraffin blends what type of wick do you guys prefer? I have a ton of CD, CDN, and HTP wicks.

    SouthernGal,

There is one supplier that I order from that carries the wax you suggested. I'll get a sample from them to try the next time I place an order. I have alot of this CB wax on hand so I am trying to find away to make it work. Way too much to throw out!

    AngelaVA,

Taking the bar! How wonderful!!! Good luck!

  6. I am having an awful time with getting a decent scent throw. I posted on the CB 135 thread. At this point I am considering adding paraffin and doing a blend. Does blending soy and paraffin increase scent throw? What paraffin wax do you prefer when mixing with soy? I have read that many use J223. I worked with this wax in the past when I made strickly paraffin candles. I had problems with soot when using it no matter what wick or FO load I used. Maybe mixing soy with it would take care of the soot problem?

  7. I wish I had an answer but I too have had far too many problems with this. I have tested FO's that were suppose to be for use in soy. Tested in 8 oz straight sided containers, 5-9% FO, FO's used have been previously tested in soy, added at temps. from 130-175, I have tested CD, CDN, ECO, PK, RRD, LX, HTP wicks, I've cured from 3 days to 3 weeks before burning. I've tested with the AC on and with it off. I've tested in my home and other homes. Same results - poor scent throw. I can burn other candles in my home and smell them just fine. Even cheapie Walmart candles give a better throw than any of mine. The one and only thing that has made a slight bit of difference is the amount of curing time. The candles I have tested after 3 weeks of curing are giving a better scent throw than the ones after only 3 days but they still aren't great! I don't want to go back to paraffin but if I don't start getting better results with soy I think I am going to throw in the towel. Good luck ladies!

  8. I agree with Buggtussel. PI is just awful, I've had it many times. I make a paste with oatmeal and water and apply it to the area and/or soak in the bath with oatmeal added(not the instant type). It helps a little. Emu oil helped the area heal faster where I had scratched my skin to the point that it bleed. Good luck and I hope your DH gets to the doctor soon!

    Buggtussel,

I just have to ask, is your user name a reference to the town the Clapetts would refer to on the tv show The Beverly Hillbillies? I think it was also mentioned on Petticoat Junction.

  9. I am very new to CP but I have tried this with one batch so far. I didn't watch the soap after I wrapped it and it gelled. The following morning the glycerin slice could still be seen, the color was the same. The only thing that was different was that I couldn't see the little veins in the lime slice.
