I appreciate your comments, Stella and you are almost 100% right! Where I live, we really don't have seasons....also - it's a very slight change in my formula and hardening process to adjust to any temperature/humidity change (humidity is not a problem here, either.). Yes, I've done my homework and I do burn my testers all the way down. So I'd have to disagree with you, and reassure you that I have perfected my soy container candle. Let me tell you, my research and playing with candles came YEARS before I poured my first candle. I still think if one is $2k in the hole with a soy candle, and still not achieving HT, maybe it's not for them.

Well test away! ) It took me a few pours to reverse what I had thought was the correct way to create a mottled candle! But the environment you work in really changes things. I hear ya on the work thing! I work 40-50 hours per week, and fit in as much candle time as possible between being a Mommy, Wife and giving attention to my other business endeavours! It's time consuming for sure

I just poured a BNB in a soy container. FO was from Peak ! It has been curing for about 5 days now, but I have to say that is already smells amazing! perfect balance of bready/banana notes! When I do end up burning it, I'll let you know how it went. I love banana nut bread, and this smells soooo true to the actual food it's unreal!

I just think Willow is upset with me because of an earlier thread. I had disagreed with their comment that one needs to add paraffin to make a perfect soy candle. *Sigh*!

And, your point is?? I can tell you right now I've spent a quarter of the money the OP has and in the past 3 months, perfected a pure soy container with manyyyyyy many scents. Intuition and lots of research !! Amazing hot & cold throw, etc...!

Willow - I didn't realize the forum police were out! I'll retract my statement for YOU! Then will you be a happy camper?? To the original OP: Instead of switching your craft, how about you switch to paraffin!

Just FYI - I live in a warm climate - I make mottled pillars, votives, etc. I gotta say, I could NEVER get a mottle, if any when I kept them warm for as long as possible. The moment I reversed my path and cooled them in normal air temp, mottle galore!

Candle making just isn't for anyone, no matter what you hear. At that $ amount I would also consider a different craft.

I have to say I never liked Yankee.... or anything that's over commercialized for that matter.

No, thank you anyway - I do believe, and I speak from experience, that it is possible to create a perfect SOY candle -appearance and throw....without the use of paraffin as an additive. Not everyone likes the idea of having paraffin in their Soy candles - I for one, do not. Personal preference here I think.

As a lover of burning candles just for pleasure.. In my past I've purchased jar/container candles - IF there is hangup, I throw them out because I was never able to enjoy the flame. This would drive me absolutely mad! I also think they look ugly with hangup. Personally, I think any hangup is a dud. I've successfully combined pure soy wax, 6.5oz jar, dye, fo - wicked correctly. There is absolutely no hangup, all the way down to the bottom. The container was never too hot to hold during any of the burning, and the MP is always slightly more than 1/4" but never more than 1/2". The empty jar should be as clear as possible imo. So after experiencing what I think is a bad container candle, I would never impose that upon any friends of mine.
