  1. Hi I have a question about FO's flashpoints. I have not used certain FO's due to low flashpoint, because I was lead to believe that when the FO exceeded that temp on its own and in wax, that it would ignite. After reading some posts, I am totally confused. I want to try a fo with fp of 106, but at the same time I am not looking to burn my house down. So, should I stay away from those low fp's? Also, I am experimenting with M&P soap, would the same apply? Any info/ help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Theresa
  2. Your soaps look awesome. I love seeing your creations. Great packaging on the crayon soaps also.
  3. I use 44z in my baby food jars also and have never had an issue. If you are looking for baby food jars, try checking ebay. I saved all my babys baby food jars when he was on baby food. Theresa
  4. They look amazing- you definately did a wonderful job. My oldest son is licking his lips and stating that your candles are making him hungry. My middle son says that they look great and has a puzzled look on his face when I told him that they are candles.
  5. I use m&p in my silicone molds and have never had to spray them with anything- I love silicone molds- the soap just pops right out. HTH - Theresa
  6. Congrats:highfive: I also believe that they should have given you a higher rating. Hope this brings of lots of business.
  7. Your soaps are so cute- you did a fantastic job on them
  8. That's fantastic - your going to be in the paper- hopefully it will really get your name and products out there and boost sales. Just take a deep breath and relax- I know it is hard to do when your mind is going a mile a minute and everything feels like it is not going right. I am sure you will do fine with your interview- best of luck. Theresa
  9. Congrats:yay: You are definately going to be busy, busy, busy. Weddings are always fun- I was approached to do a wedding a few months ago- the lady wanted to give 1.5 oz as wedding favors to all the guests- it was fun. I even put on my business cards that I do weddings, showers and other special occasions. I am glad things are going good for you.
  10. I use www.tristatecandlesupplies.com for all my jars. But it all depends of where you live as far as shipping goes- they are in West Virginia and I am in Virginia so shipping is not bad.
  11. Don't get too discouraged. This is my 2nd year making candles and I am still not making a profit- it all goes back into candles and supplies for new products. I know my first year- almost everything I made went right back into supplies-but on the up side- when tax time came around I didn't have to owe the IRS anything:yay: . My tax preparer is a family friend and she told my not to worry and that it could take 3+ years before my business takes off the way I would like it too. So, until then, we will continue to pinch pennies and to be extremely frugal to make sure our kids are taken care of. Plus I am able to stay at home with my kids, so I don't have to pay the high daycare rates. So, don't get too discouraged- everything ends up working itself out eventually- just give it time.
  12. Love your website- very easy to navigate through- lots of great info
  13. There are so many people that don't know how much work candlemaking really is. My moher in law asked me what is involved in making a candle- I started to explain and she stopped me and said that is was way too much work for her and it was much easier to just buy them from me. Not to mention all the work that went into preparing. I know, personally, that it took me a year to research everything I could get my hands on, continuous emails to the chamber of commerce, SSA and keeping in contact with the county administrator in my county for the business aspect. I took notes on everything I read- my hubby had to build me a shelf above my computer desk to put everything and I still am running out of room. I have spiral notebook and 3 ring notebooks everywhere. After about a year and a half of research and testing and the with the support of my hubby and kids, I finally got my business license in 2004. And I am still learning- thank God for this board. I love what I do- it gives me a chance to show off my creativity. IMO you need to have passion for candlemaking to be successful, if you don't have the love of the craft, you will never last.
  14. Thanks for the info. Last night, I think I was typing foil candy wrappers on my google search and kept coming up with the sites that personalized regular candy bar wrappers. I was getting so frazzled last night- haven't slept much in the past week- my 1 yr old is cutting molars- The joy of teething-LOL:grin2: I will have to check at Walmart and at BCN for the liners. Thanks so much- Theresa
  15. I am going crazy:tongue2: - think I have been in front of the computer too long:laugh2: - anyhow, I saw the post on Bunny's bath melts and am so eager to try them- however, I cannot find the little colored foils. I have been on every website I can think of and cannot find them- it could be that I just don't know exactly what they are called. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks so much, Theresa
  16. Everything looks amazing- you have done such a wonderful job. Wishing you lots of success and happiness.
  17. These air fresheners sound like fun- does anyone have the website address for Bell and Company Traders (I think that is what I remember reading). I did a google search for the company and had no luck. TIA Theresa:grin2:
  18. I was about to suggest the same thing with the business cards. My hubby saw a candle with the info printed on a small card and had a ribbon to attach it and suggested that we may want to do the same- it looks really nice.
  19. Looks like an ocean scent- very beautiful candle- I wish I could be that talented.
  20. Mcsoywax.com has monkey farts and Butt Naked. Also, Butt Naked is their scent of the month- so it 15% off for the rest of the month of August.
  21. Thank you all so very much I will definately check out these sites.
  22. If you don't mind my asking- what bases do you currently use that do not require a thickening agent? I am quite new to this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
