  1. I have wondered about the pre-made soy drops and adding your own FO. Too many ideas too little time, lol! Tell us how they turn out, this is really interesting.
  2. I still haven't heard back from Lonestar but sent them pictures of the wax. At Affair of the Heart today, there was a company selling 100% soy wax in clamshells. They had clear labels so you could see through their packaging. There were cracks in alot of packages and some of them had crack chunks coming out (possibly dropped). The company seemed to be selling them well despite this. Back to the quest for better scent throw! :rolleyes2
  3. I love the things and am hooked! I do have some soot when it burns the bottom 1/3 but probably needed to trim the wick better(kinda hard to reach with my little trimmers) I really don't care about the soot so far because they have been far better than Yank and our local candle maker as far as soot goes. My first batch was 70/30 IGI4633/GB464. Tonight, I did one with my little parasoy mix and the next with all IGI4633 to see what happens. I was thinking that the soy mix would be better but will see
  4. I just looked and IGI4633 = J223 which is what I have been using for containers. What is the difference in J50 and J223? I can't tell a whole lot from the descriptions but have had great scent throw so far with 4633. Is the J50(IGI4636) all that? Confused as usual, lots of people are using J50 and I used it before but had too much corporate world time in between my candle making.
  5. I am making some right now with IGI4633 and threw in a tad of soy to see what happens. It worked really well last time, burned evenly, good scent throw, nice crackle. I'm using the large woodwicks from Lonestar and 12 oz status jars.
  6. I found Presto pots for 49.99 + 15 for shipping on Ebay. My hubster is sick of my stove messes so he is buying one for me.
  7. Super cute website and very creative! Your baby stuff is adorable. Look forward to seeing more posts from you.
  8. I've had good luck with Candlescience that also tests in soy but ordered from Candlemakers and will post upon testing.
  9. Okay, I make bears too but don't knit. Those hats are adorable, are you willing to sell the hats? I agree with 20 a bear.....football fans go crazy for stuff like that in the South.
  10. I ordered a little Tupperware and got great info on booth spaces ect. She also told me to bring on my wax melts and warmers because Scentsy isn't homemade. YAY!
  11. Oh my, I called about the booth for a December show since the application hadn't arrived yet and the lady emailed me a Tupperware flyer with the application. Does this mean I would get a better space if I ordered Tupperware?
  12. I'm outside the metro OKC and Shawnee is only about an hour drive so will check into it. I know what you mean about not going because of little ones, imagine what a two year could do to a display, lol. We lucked out and have parents that retired early to watch our toddler.
  13. Wow, lots of great info from all of you. Thanks! The Tulsa Affair of the Heart is definately worth looking into. I will check it out and try get on the waiting list.
  14. CS is my fave so far. Lonestar called me yesterday because of a complaint on their fo's(nice customer service) but much happier with CS fo's performance. I ordered a pretty large quantity from Candlemakers and am holding breath with the money spent. I've been wondering about Bitter Creek south also since I live in OKC. It feels like I am spending tons of money just in shipping costs and wax to figure out the best place to order FO's from.
  15. Agreed! and Agreed!!!!! I've tried several combinations with CB135 and yet to get good scent throw.
  16. What a great idea for recycling baby jars! Is your wax Crafty Candles brand? Hobby Lobby headquarters is 5 minutes from my house and the wax they sell comes locally from OKC. Hobby Lobby is my favorite store EVER but the Crafty Candle wax and fragrance oils, not so much. Try wicking down one size and see what happens. Half the fun is experimenting and getting a success!
  17. This might need to be posted in off topic...... So I went to bed early and woke up a few hours ago to a Fabreze commercial for their new wood wick candles and soy candles. This got me wide awake.......cheap wood wick and soy candles? They looked gorgeous in the commercial so I ventured out to Wal-Mart since middle of the night is the best time to shop there anyway. The wood wick candles(11oz) are made of paraffin, wood wicks are like the large size wood wicks from Lonestar but thin light colored and not double that I could tell. The tops were not as smooth and sort of looked like the dye wasn't mixed well. They come in a round container with a nice lid. These came in 5 or 6 scents and retail for $12. They didn't advertise the crackle and from the look of the wick they probably do not. The soy candle containers (9oz) were a heavy square jar with nice little lid, regular wick, and had a nice cold throw. They are advertising to the "green" market but still creating lots of aerosol cans....crazzzzzzzy. My info might be a little off as it is the middle of the night. Anyone want to buy and compare with me? I will but didn't tonight. I should've checked to see where they were made....probably not in the US, it's Proctor and Gamble owned. I am thinking of buying one of each but guessing that they won't burn properly and create holes down the center like yankmee's do. Wal-mart is good about returns though
  18. Writing a letter to the Chamber of Commerce and sending it for local newspaper publishing is a great idea! You would think that small towns would encourage small businesses instead of out of state big businesses and this will be my first point in the letter Maybe we should come up with a good letter and generate it around to small business owners and ourselves to collect signatures? The second craft show that I am going in told me not to bring my wax products because her best friend sells Scentsy and then proceeded to try to recruit me to sell Tupperware. Lol! Our shows in the OKC area seem to have a popularity/sorority type atmosphere on getting in them. There are very few that are juried and the juried type want real art and not crafts. Affair of the Heart is our biggest show in Oklahoma and is pretty impossible to get into unless you know the right people but they don't let Scentsy in so I'm going to check out the competition this weekend.
  19. I signed up a few weeks ago and am anxiously waiting for the reader. My grandparents do craft shows with intrecia (sp?) wood work and the art is pretty expensive. I tried to get him on board because it would be perfect for him but will have to teach him tons of stuff! Keep up the comments for us newbies that don't have it yet
  20. I ordered some yesterday and will let you know.
  21. Yes, I agree. Ecosoya PB is very brittle. I used 50% Ecosoya PB, 30% CB135 and 20% IGI4633 and no cracks today. Ordering more GB464 so that I can try the gb464 50% to Ecosoya PB 50% recipe. Are we chemists? Whoever knew it could be so complicated I am waiting for the vendor to call me back after they check their warehouse stock about the weird white flakes in the CB135. Hopefully, they will give me some credit on it.
  22. I would be so in! I stay awake in the wee hours and read the forum while waiting on batches of wax to melt(180).
