This is the wax I have left when the candle goes out. I usually have wax on the side until at least the second half of the candle...but towards the end it gets cleaned up.  They're 8oz straight sided jars, HTP62 wicks (20mm x 3mm) and 6006 wax.

I have refilled my Calypso jar twice, and I get more wax left at the bottom due to the raised bottom but the sides are cleaned up like the 8oz SS jar...also with the 62 wick.

    Looks good Gary!

  2. Mine have all been less than a 1/4” so far, I would guess like an 1/8” with the raised bottom and I don’t like a clean bottom at all, I shoot for some left because otherwise the remaining wax gets sucked up so fast and causes an inferno and the glass to get to hot IMO

And like candy stated 3mm necks are trouble for anyone reading this thread - I had a supplier once change to those without notice and I didn’t pay attention....let’s just say it was ugly and dangerous in the jars I was using at that time - I couldn’t figure out why my candles were so hot at the end and going forever last part of the burn turning the jar black

the only place I could see using those would be in a votive or tea light and even then I’m not sure I would - much rather have leftover wax than a fireball

  3. That jar Gary posted is different from the 12 ounce calypso - they don’t have that big of a lip on them

I have been using them and they do sell cork lids but you can’t fill them all the way up using them so they can push down in securely

the bottom is raised but I haven’t had any issues with excessive wax left on the bottom at all - that is where your wicking comes into play and I don’t use the high neck tab wicks (9 I believe) either I use the 6mm

here is a pic - they sell out often in several colors and they are pretty pricey but I am launching a small line of these  with a pretty price 😉

  4. I love doing state themed candles - I have a pure Michigan line and constantly adding more names to it - I started with the main state symbols and went from there with well known points of interest and local things

for blue bonnet I don’t know what that smells like but lonestar has one - I was fragrance browsing over the weekend and almost placed a small order with them - back in the day I did use them and they had some good oils

    other ideas:

-Yellow Texas rose - any rose would do but I love elements sensuous black rose

-a sagebrushish desert type tumble-weedy scent - maybe like desert sage from elements as far as name...🤷‍♀️ Texas storm or tumbleweed

-pecan tree- maybe some butter pecan from JS

-armadillo - maybe a mix of something dry like vetiver with a water type scent

-mockingbird - this could be anything you want it to be

-longhorn- maybe a oatmeal milk and honey for this one

I received a fascinating phone call yesterday. The lady on the other end of the line got my phone number off my website. She said she had questions about my ingredients. I gave a quick explanation about different types of candles requiring different waxes. At first, I thought this was one of those anti-paraffin hits. It seems she is highly allergic to soy and many of the additives used in candle making. She wants container candles. I told her I would research it and see if I could find a solution. Does anyone have recommendations of wax I could use to make a non-allergic container candle?

Just a heads up she could be fishing - people will do this to try and find out what your using as close as they can to try and replicate your product

not saying she is but be careful what info you give her  - if she is that sensitive to soy and “other” additives seems to me she would just play it safe and not burn candles 🤷‍♀️

Its totally up to you if you want to learn a new wax and cater to her, I would run for the hills on this one myself  - but maybe unscented paraffin or beeswax would be her alternative - fragrances have so many different chemicals and components I would tend to not want to risk her having a “reaction” and coming back in you ... and most coconut have soy blended in so it would have to be a straight coco candle if your wanting to go down that road

Wow! I've just been taken to the woodshed. I do appreciate your thoughts on the matter, but you could work on your delivery. Good lord, talk about condescension. So what you're telling me is I need to give several away as gifts rather than one. Got it. Thanks. You can breathe now.

I would like to apologize to you for that - that typically isn’t how we roll on here

safety and testing are very important for obvious reasons but in your saying you wanted to make a gift for your son makes it a little different than saying you just found these jars and want to get them off to a wholesale account tomorrow - please don’t be discouraged by this and afraid to post, we are all here to help in the ways that we can and Trapp I’m sure didn’t mean to come off that harshly

@Trappeur you release new jars all the time in record time - how did you get through that Easter line so fast with new jars and new oils....I would love to learn your process, we all found out the hard way experience with a wax does not play a role when your dealing with products never used before

we may think we know our waxes inside and out but all bets are off when you add a new vessel, fragrance oil, wicks, additives or even dyes - takes some time to know that new candle is going to be safe

I also have to ask how you keep track of and remember all the different combos that you do all the time?  It amazes me you can keep them all straight with the constant fast turn around that you do 😂

  7. The clams I got through a co-op on here were from impact - pretty sure the ICS are the same because I saw zero difference in them

Impact have shaped clams as well I believe but going through them will require high minimums

Wow thank you! That gives me hope, I will have to give those a try!

I always pour clams around 150- the palm I even let cool rather than the 200 recommended pour temp because I think that could blow a hole and be disastrous and I still had good crystal pattern

  9. There are cheap plastic clams out there that stink and blow holes when you pour hotter

I can’t remember the specifics you need to look for but there is a thread on this from long ago

I get mine from Indiana candle supply and never had an odor or a blowout and for me price and shipping is very reasonable considering I have zero waste with them

Morning Marleigha!   Geesh we are the early birds aren't we? ha!

Geesh I missed that "clean cotton scent" on the site.   Couldn't find it.....well thanks!

My clean cotton scent I've been using for years is Luxe Linen from Community but I just got in an order from them and never ordered more of the Luxe and I don't want to pay 18.00 to ship just one oil when that is all I need.   Candle Science I think I do need to get an order to them and I guess I could order this clean cotton.

And that sounds like a beautiful blend of Candybee's of Clean cotton and lavender.   Going to make that up today....Thanks Candybee!

    Trappeur

If you need to order from CS their clean cotton is very good but and if you need to order from a wsp their clean cotton yank dupe is very good as well

  11. well....this wax can be beauty with the right amount of modifier added with the midwest and proper pour temps along with even cooling, its just a matter of getting to know it well enough

Kellie I would suggest letting them cure at least 7 days for the midwest and 4-5 for millenium..... the midwest I have found are stronger and better after a month cure but a week gives you a good idea on the fragrance being compatible or not - as far as pour temps I would pour at slush on both- 120 is still a little to warm for a nicer top and another idea if you like the wax is to add some of the pastilles to the tops of the candle and heat gun them in just enough to stick to give a different look to the candle and hide the bumps if your unable to get them smooth

I do believe candle cocoon has added the midwest to their product line as well - for a soy product these are most certainly the most reliable in my opinion with very little variations lot to lot

This is either the best kept secret? Or the best kept worse secret. I have been searching and not much here or the internet about this wax. I know the difference between the "Original" and Millennium but do these have a different name?

CBA is pretty much fool proof. at least it was to me until they changed it. I am still grieving.

I am not worried about the tops I can use a heat gun.

Anyone have any advice on this wax? Are super low temps required for this when melting? Do you find that scents get lost when adding too much to a candle? is 7% really the best load for this wax?

What has been your experience good /bad /ugly?

    any advice is appreciated.

Millennium and Midwest waxes can be found at American soy organic and candlesoylutions

millennium is a super hard shiny soy wax with pretty good throw and yes it’s best to pour at low temps - following their instructions for temps is best - the tops can be ugly but a heat gun fixes that until you find the right temp for your environment  - I used 8% fragrance with no issue

Midwest soy I liked better but it does require a longer cure in my experience - I have used it alone and with their soy modifier - the modifier makes it perform more more like millennium, I prefer it alone as it reminds me of my 415 I used to use - I used 8% fragrance with this one as well - I still dabble it in here and there but I don’t use it in on a regular basis only because I’m branching out with other waxes, the whole soy fiasco and changes made has kinda did me in from trusting to continue with just straight soy anymore

I was wondering with everyones creative minds if you could throw out some Easter Names for fragrances....some could be cute too.   I need them for a small collection of Easter candles I'm making.   I saw in another post where someone mentioned Marshmallow Peeps which I'm going to use as one.

Scents I am thinking of doing is :

    1.  Marshmallow blended with pink sugar or vanilla-

I would keep this simple and just call it “peeps”

    2.   Pineapple cilantro which is a great seller I was thinking of Pineapple Marshmallow Peeps-

pineapple cilantro would smell nothing like a marshmallow peep so maybe make this one Easter grass, Easter basket or just plain Easter

    3.   Lemon Cheesecake

    Easter cake 🤷‍♀️

    4.  Daffodil

    Easter bunny or peter cottontail

    5.  Peach - I was thinking of Sweet Georgia Peach

    Good Friday

    6. Fresh Rain - I got this from Fillmore - is really nice

    egg hunt or Easter egg

If you could give me just different names of nice Easter scents I would use a fragrance to fit that name.

    Thanks for the help!

    Trappeur

I dont do Easter themed candles so that’s all I got for you 😂

way to many “Easter” in the names but it is Easter and you wanted Easter names

for the religious folk maybe a frankincense and myrrh would be a nice addition as well

  14. I got mine several years ago from a co-op on this forum and they came from Nemat internationals - absolutely love them but I assume they have to be bought in bulk as I think I got a 1000 of them - don’t make incense much at all and still have a ton left

but they are super nice and worth looking into...maybe you can get others to go in with you

  15. Down down down down.....that’s is way too big as trapp and talltayl stated - I have never used that wax before and not super versed in parasoy but definitely go down in size and search in here what wicks people prefer for that wax, CD may end up not being a good choice as it is a pretty hot wick compared to others

I have been seeing these candles a lot lately. Is there some special chemical in these that eliminates odor or is it just a regular scented candle with a strong FO? I have ordered the scent before from CS and it just smells like Juicy Fruit.

Not sure what’s in it but it works - the juicy fruit gum smell wipes out odors in my house and I can’t make other scented candles or store them with other melts or candles or it sucks the scent right out of them 🤷‍♀️

Maybe some people are more susceptible or it’s psychological but I have tried other citrus type odor eliminating fo and they just don’t work for me ....at all
