  1. Do you know how much lecithin to add per 8 oz of this lotion? I actually like this lotion, exept it's hard to handle, since it's so runny. I am not very familiar with e-wax (seen it in a bunch of recipes), is it natural?
  2. I love the tropycal papaya hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works. http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4162192&cp=3207812.4346088 Is there FO that smells like it?
  3. Oh, so they are not just for candles! I would have never even looked at this site for FO for soap. Glad I read this thread.
  4. Have you tried using vinegar in the rince cycle? I add about half a cup to a medium load during a rince cycle, and no scum here. We have hard water, but we do have a water softener, which doesn't make our water totally perfect (it still has a bit of iron, and a funky smell). Dissolve pipes and fittings? That's not good. Do you have a water softener? Maybe you also need an iron filter?
  5. Which one exaclty are you talking about? I searched WSP for lavender, and there are actually a couple of FOs. Can you post a link to the one you used?
  6. Obviously I won't be setting up LLC for this fund raiser. So I was thinking to sell some soap, lotion bars, and bath salts. Since they don't have water, I figured these would be the safest procucts to sell?
  7. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I read some threads that ask for a good suppier of and ingredient, and people use abbreviations for supplier names, like MMS. I have no idea what it stands for. Is there a thread that has abbreviations like that decoded?
  9. Thanks for the link! It's very helpful. Do I really need to set up LLC for one time fund raser selling? I don't even have a "company" or "brand" name. The sale is in the beginning of September, and I don't know how long setting up a company takes. Should I just skip this sale?
  10. Our church is doing this fund raising type of thing, where you can sell your crafts and donate 10% of sales to the church needs. I have never sold any of my soap or B&B products. But was thinking to sell some at the fundraser. Are there any special rules for selling such things? Anything else I need to know?
  11. I don't think it would harm the machine in any way, but it might be about the amount of bubbles you might get. If something is really sudsy, it will probably start leaking out through the seal. I have heared of people using dish soap in the dishwasher (instead of dish detergent), and getting so many bubbles that they start coming out of the machine.
  12. I made a lotion with it, so far no problem. I'll just use this slab for my own recipe testing. Yaley didn't know much about this wax, they get it from some supplier, and they would not give me the name of this suppier, it happens to be their "trade secret" (yeah, those were exact words). On the other hand I found a local person who'd sell me some beeswax. Well, not exactly local, maybe 60 miles away, but still in the same state, and I know it's going to be pure wax.
  13. The package didn't specify that it was for candles only, it just mentioned something about brighter flame. And I got it at Michaels in the section with candle making supplies.
  14. I don't know if this topic has been discussed in the past, but I thought it might be interesting to some. I made some lotion bars yesterday, and used baby food containers for molds, and since they have lids, that's where they are staying (no need to look for new packaging). I figured if I am making these for myself, or close friends, there is no need to get fancy, might as well get "green". And if you don't have babies, buy the sweet potatoes and just add a little to your pancake mix, you'll get a pleasing golden color and and some extra nutrition. (found some expired carrots - more molds!) Target and Walmart have their own brand baby food, and it comes in round containers.
  15. The pack rat that I am, I saved a bunch of baby food containers just in case for no particular reason. Well, 2 years later they are finally getting used! I like that they have lids, and since I am not selling the bars, I'll just keep them in those containers. The ones I used here are Gerber 2.5 oz containers. Just created a new thread about my "super fancy" molds http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?p=856002#post856002
  16. I tried them, and love the way they work! I know what's going in christmas stockings this year....
  17. By the way, I don't use white beeswax either. I am only making this stuff for myself. I was not sure how true their statement about "natural and free of impurities" was. I thought there might be something they add to it to "improve" performance in candle making. Just like natural hennah is not natural most of the time, because it has some metal salts added to it to produce a sertain color (like borwn hannah, auburn hennah). I also bought a small peice of wax from a healthfood sotore, and it seems that it is softer then this Yaley brand. Does beeswax become harder over years?
  18. Got it, thanks! I don't ues dryer sheets with cotton at all, but I do use them when there are some polyester or other synthetics are present.
  19. Found a recipe in this forum, and thought I would try it. It smelled so chocolaty to me, so I decided to add a small squeare of dark chololate to the last couple ounces (and a drop of vit. E just in case) Can't wait untill it cools, so I can try it!
  20. Ugg, posted in a wrong section. Is there way to move it?
  21. Now that my grater, plate and knive have beeswax all over them, I have no idea how to clean it off. Please help!
