  1. I've had success with Clorox Clean Up. Be careful with it though; it is super strong and will dry your hands out like crazy if you don't wear rubber gloves when using it. Good luck. I love liquid dye, but it is definitely a mess....had a big blue streak in my hair from it last week; Jeff's Head & Shoulders shampoo took it out in a single wash, luckily!

If I was as stylish as Kate DiMira from Days of Our Lives, maybe I could have pulled it off, but it basically just looked like a mid-life crisis of some sort!

  2. I guess it could be a local thing. Out in the more rural areas they would like that name but I'm not sure if they actually say that phrase or not. Hehe! ;-)

    Jack,

It was one of those phrases that was popular, but now is dead with the kids.

They are so trendy it is impossible to keep up!

  3. post-12201-139458488331_thumb.jpg A few pics from the Mistletoe Market yesterday. I forgot the base for the birdbath bowl full of oval tart tubs, but with it setting flat on the table it was easily accessible and eye catching to the kids (Santa was there) which boosted sales. Luckily, all the "smalls" were very well behaved and very careful when handling the items. We did this show last year as our first and had a great day. This year was much slower...my estimate was that we only did about 25% of last year's sales, but when Jeff totalled it up for me, we actually did approximately 75%, which eased my brain a bit. We're booked at a small local show next Saturday, so hopefully we can redeem ourselves a bit. Sorry for the shoddy photos; I'm just learning how to run the camera on my new phone. Thanks for looking!

  4. Do you have a large, lazy cat around? For some reason they seem to help. Our resident pet, Moose, just has to be underfoot whenever I pour, and many other board members have similar issues. Perhaps you need a feline friend for some good cat karma! LOL...jk...just don't give up.

Agree...glue dots are a joke. Get yourself a dual temp glue gun. Saves a ton of headaches, and tell us your stress issues with some details, and we will try to help you out. If you are messing with soy, be prepared for many issues...it's a tricky bit#h to tame, but is amazing when you succeed. Just remember: every FO and dye combo tests different. Take time to get it right. HTH!

  5. Winter Fruit, Christmas Dreams, have you tried just sugar plum or sugared plums?

You could add a little vanilla and call vanilla sugar plum and see how that works. Sugar Plum Pudding. I'll think of others.

It sells for me as Sugar Plum

We're testing the CandleScience Plumberry to market as Sugar Plum for winter; so far so good on cold throw, and it was magical when I was pouring. What is the issue with the name, Jack?

  6. Just hold off a bit. You have to have 30 days in here to get access to the forums that will allow you to purchase via co-op's and classifieds. Try to be patient. I started slow in M&P with supplies I bought off the classies here; saved a ton of cash and didn't dwell in hobby store crap. Keep reading the threads, and pay attention to those who have good recipes; Candybee's are amazing and are on a Sticky. I currently use SFIC base, and love it. I do want to try EBC, and am patiently waiting for another co-op to come up to order. HTH, and good luck.

  7. Greetings Everyone!

I just saw some black candle tins that I would love to use but can't seem to find. I tried performing a google search but can't seem to find them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would check with your local hardware store and ask about flat black grill paint (designed for high temps) and give a batch a quick spray, let dry thoroughly, then pour...and naturally test this batch outside with a fire extinguisher handy, JIC! I think it would work...I'm going to talk to Boy Wonder about it when he comes in from his break. He'll try anything! Keep us posted.

  8. post-12201-139458487024_thumb.jpgAnother batch from last night; Cherry Almond, Mountain Rain, Fresh Laundry, Peaches & Cream, Wild Cherry, Macintosh Apple, Blue Cotton Candy...and the dreaded Lavender. For some reason that one just makes my physically sick when I pour it, and it is far too cold to keep windows open. Only six scents left to pour, then this order is complete! Thanks for looking.

  9. Ok, I'm not sure what GB 464 is, but I do use HTP wicks in soy at 9% FO load. For a jar that size, I would start with a 93. I haven't tried the 83, but I generally use an 8 oz. jelly jar to test which measures 2.5" x 3" to the lip of the jar, and I start with a 93 in that, and if I get hang-up or low throw, I try the 104. 104 seems to work well with many FO's, but each batch needs testing. HTH, and good luck!

Stella, if I'm way off base on this and GB 464 is paraffin, please guide Jaime back!
