  4. Old FO, when is it too old to use? I have heard a shelf life a 1 yr ... I have had some that seem as good at a yr old , but I also have some scents that seemed to have morphed into something new and stinky with age ... Do you throw it away at a certain age, or do you test it first?

  9. someone asked me to do a 'milk & cookies' type of scent for christmas ... does that bring any ideas bubbling up? i have never poured a milk type of scent, i have heard some of you talk about a sweet milk scent before ... and what type of cookie would compliment milk? chocolate chip, sugar cookie, peanut butter cookie?
  10. catlover, is christmas hearth a candle science scent too?
  11. does re/ah have any great christmas scents? I am ordering today to get my KY oils ...
  12. Thank for all the input!! CS hansel & gretel I use year round CS cinnamon buns I use year round I forgot i also use ICS cranberry orange spice by ST, I love this one but it moves slow! HF Rocky mountain pine, where is HF? FMC Christmas tree, where is FMC? BW Honey Gingerbread, where is BW? I don't like the pumpkin souffle either, but it sells great. I tried pumpkin pie from CS and it smelled wonderful, but I felt it was to light to sell (I use 464 also ??? 8% FO )
  13. I need HELP with christmas. Anyone else thinking about christmas lineup? My fall is ready and selling ... But my christmas lineup was weak last year and I haven't tested any yet that I would add for this year. I have a 'cookies for santa' (NG mrs clauses cookies or TCS vanilla bean noel) I have a 'holiday cheer' (CS amerato nog) Would like an awesome sugar cookie ... I don't like pine (and most of my customers don't either, so it would have to be awesome) The pomegranates don't sell well for me either ... I also had a pepermint creme (50/50 creme brulee KY and purely peppermint peaks) and a 'candy cane' ... i had to clearance those to get rid of them.
  14. talltayl, no body products ... just candles (actually tarts)

  19. I love doing the fall scents! I am planning on a Pumpkin Apple Butter, Toasted Marshmallow (KY), Apple Jack n Peel (BB). I did caramel dip (EL) last year, pumpkin souffle (CS) and a Spiced Pumpkin (50/50 Burning love cin fom BG and pumpkin souffell (CS). Also did candy corn from BG, how is candy corn from TCS? I love the scents from TCS but am not getting enough throw out of them, I really want to use dried apple wreath, gingerbread applesauce and a couple more. I love their amish harvest. I would like to do a sweet pumpkin spice ... any suggestions for the 'sweet' part? Pumpkin pie filling (ICS), Berts apple cinnamon, and something sweet ... ? Aub
  20. Thank you for the candle caldron pointer ... and the checks in the name of the organization ... if I gave them 45-50% of sales, I go below my wholesale price ... is that normal or should I raise my normal resale price for the fundraiser?
  21. It is something I make and sell all the time, so left overs wouldn't be a problem unless I made a crazy number up ...
  22. Yes, they would actually make a 65% markup (from my wholesale price) or 40% of total sales if I did that. I am having a brain freeze as to why those percentages aren't the same, but it will come to me. I only have 5 weeks until the actual mission trip, so assume 4 weeks working time. I think direct sales could be better, and not take orders, although the orders could be delivered when they got back ... probably not a good idea though. I thinking of leaving my stock of tarts at the church, so the members can fill their orders as they sell them without looking me up ...
  23. I did a quick search and didn't find any recent posts. Does anyone have fundraiser guidelines? My church has asked me to sell my tarts as a fundraiser for a mission trip to elsalvador. I am perfectly willing, but would like somewhere to start ... More fundraisers might come my way! I also sell wholesale to a few shops, so do I use my wholesale price as far as what I keep, or do I let them have more of it being a fundraiser? I was thinking I would make up 'tart sample' baskets for each member that wanted to participate. The customer would then know what they were getting, not guess the smell, and potentially buy more!! Thanks for any info. Aubrey
  24. I ordered Amish Harvest (at TCS) today online, we'll see if they call me and tell me it isn't available when they pull my order!
