I ordered several of the Scentsy dupes and have poured testers of Havana Cabana and Winter Wonderland. They'll be ready to burn on the weekend, but the cold throw is making my mouth water! I think just about every time I've posted on these boards, it's about SOS (I promise I'm not a shareholder/owner!) I use the regular grade oil because the majority of others are below the flashpoint allowed for shipping by air (I'm in Australia) and have had maybe 1 or 2 oils (out of perhaps 60 of theirs I've tested) that I wouldn't recommend. Otherwise, I've had no problems in GB464.

I'm staggered that that's even legal! You athorized a supplier to charge you $199 and they essentially took 3x that amount. I understand (well, barely) hotels doing it because of potential charges, but a supplier? Who's got your order? Makes me really glad that my suppliers take direct bank deposits. Yep, it's what you said--the buttermilk effect. Which doesn't bother me, either, but I'd be happy to see it gone. I have the same problem with some oils upon setting--kind of like pockmarking. I thought it might be the red liquid dye I used on one (because all the other candles I poured at the same time and at the same temp all had smooth tops), but I used the same dye on another fragrance and that top is very smooth. Although, I might use another red dye on the "problem" fragrance to see if the pockmarking occurs. And then, try the CO :smiley2:

Rose. OTOH, I love pouring bayberry, coconut lime, and anything pumpkiny.

My friend got back to me about the pineapple citrus and said it's burning perfectly. Success! For that one, at least <g>

OK, resurrecting this because I read through it all and my head hurts. Could be lack of coffee, could just be me. I'm using 464 in a variety of containers. I'm really happy with the H/CT and manage to get a smooth top about 90% of the time. My only issue is the hang-up. Haven't had any complaints, but if I can get rid of it, I'd be happy. Catlover, did you have any success?

One layered jar with 2 scents performed beautifully; another, the flame was too small and I had to dig the wicks out during a power burn. That one had vanilla and cinnamon in the fragrance. I need to burn for 3-4 hours to see how it performs, see if I need to wick up. Just sent a mail to a friend who's testing Pineapple Citrus to see how hers went; I'll let you know what I find out. :smiley2:

I've had a few NG scents that I found too weak, but I'm currently test-burning their Alpine Snowdrift in soy and it's definitely strong enough to fill a large room. The only issue with it is that the description reads "This fragrance is a perfect blend of wet snow, a frozen air accord, menthol, woodland moss, spearmint leaves, winter anise, an ozonic accord, frosted vanilla, and galbanum" and all I can smell is bayberry. Now, I love bayberry, but I wanted a real winter/snow scent. Any recommendations? However, I'm also test-burning The Candle Source's Gingersnap Cookies and I'd swear black and blue it's apple pie--so maybe it's just my nose :embarasse

Just wanted to say thanks for your suggestions with this. I went with 2 x CD12, and it's worked perfectly. The burn rate is good, perfect melt pool and fantastic hot throw. Thank you!

SOS also sends 1oz sniffies when you order over a certain amount (starts at $75)--you choose half, they choose half.

I'm using GB 415, 1oz fo/lb. Which wick would you suggest I start testing with, and how far apart should I set them--the jar is 4" in diameter. TIA :smiley2: Gabrielle

I not long moved back to Australia after 5 years in Paris and it's driving me *crazy* to see they've had more snow this year than when I was there--I miss the snow! And I'm not looking forward to testing my candles when it's cold--I have the feeling my kitchen's going to have issues.

?! That's wild! I would probably do the same as you because I'd be so shocked--but as a customer, I would never even *think* of doing that. I dunno, maybe she confused you with LL Bean?

I'm test-burning The Candle Source's J&J Bedtime Bath (Soothing Lavender) and it's a fantastic floral. I'm also test-burning their guava fig, and I'm loving that as well--deliciously juicy. Just rec'd my latest SOS order and they included samples of what I gather they're pushing for spring/summer: fresh-squeezed orange juice, pink grapefruit, citrus, and lemongrass sage. Smell great OOB but I probably won't test-burn them for a few months, considering we're heading into winter in Australia :smiley2:

I've placed several orders with them and I'm very happy with both their fragrances and their customer service. The only hassle I have is with their online shipping calculator not always working correctly for flat-rate shipping boxes to Australia. I had this happen last week, where the calculator showed the quantity I wanted would fit in the box. However, I got a mail from them the next day to say this wasn't the case, and the priority mail would be $60 extra--which made it a total of $115. But when I explained it made more sense to me to place a second order (because too many oils are never enough :rolleyes2) and put that extra $60 to flat-rate shipping, they were very flexible in pulling out the oils that wouldn't fit in awaiting that order, while also honoring the sample pack. (And I'll keep that box for all future orders so I don't have this hassle again.) I'm mainly interested in their YC types, but I also love their Red Velvet Cake and their margarita--it's the only one I've tested that actually smells like tequila, and not just lime.

I understand your trepidation, however the customer came to you and requested it. I don't think you'd be doing anything underhanded or sneaky if you accepted the business. Good luck!
