Im going to start making soaps soon, I stumble on this site a year or so ago. Have you used this site for guidance? How accurate is it? If Im off by a few points will that make a huge difference in my soaps? Thanks

When making your scrubs do you mix the FO w/the sugar then add the oils or do you pour the oils (already mixed with F/O) over the sugar? I ask b/c when mixing the FO w/sugar the sugar seems to expand or become puffy. I guess it depends on perference.

well mine does not last long, about a week or so. I ask b/c I had forgotten about some soap I made 2 months ago and I finally used it and it was really hard and lasted a little longer.

Im still working with m&p bases, please tell me how long do you let your cure?

I may be late but im just findoing out (last week) that Lindsay was no longer producing bases. What did I miss? I loved her bases.

Has anyone participated in a Wine Fest? If so how well did you do? I have been invited to participate in a local 2 day festival which draws about 6000-7000 people both days.

I tested Creamy Vanilla from LS and it's the bomb!!!!! The only problem is this is the only FO that I have tested from them. I hate having to place an order for on 16oz bottle of FO then pay $8.00 shipping. With that being said, what have you tested from LS? I want to test some more FO but im not sure where to start.

How do you scent your (fragrance and manufacturer)?

Never tried thier base, I bought a base from the chemistry store, followed the instructions and was not satisfied at all. What base-oil ratio are you using?

I purchased the actual diffuser oil (Lavender & Clean Cotton) from WSP & the are the best. Can you reccomend any other scents from WSP? Also, talked to me about the complete kit from acandleco, what are your experiences with these? How do you rate the strenght of thier scents (Strong-med-light)?Thanks

well it was my first big event, I enjoyed it and learned a lot from it. I will probally do it again next year.

I mentioned that I failed to set up an exfolient stand, I usually sell out when I do that. I only sold 3 jars and 1 bottle of lotion.

I think I will, it cost me (supplies & shipping) about $3.25 to make a 16oz jar, about $4.25 for a 25oz jar and $2.25 to make a 8oz jar. So out of the $500 I made $300 was an entry fee and probally, I spent about $125-$150 on supplies and the rest was profit. The show was about 2 miles from my house, I did have to buy a tent $50 from pepboys and mt girlfriend let me use her SUV. Im going ot give her $100 for helping me out yesterday. I met soo many people and they all said that they will visit me at the Flea Market (I expect about 25% of them to show up). I also met some people that told me that they recieved my candles as house warming gifts, felt good to see my name out there.

It was a one day event that attracted about 90,000 people. This was my first event this big so I really was not prepared. I usually have an exfollient station (did not have) only sold 3 jars of scrub, I only had about 10, 8oz candles (which were big hits) and about 50, 25oz candles. I probally broke even with sales, maybe a small profit.

Well I did my first festival this weekend, made a total of $500.00, the set up fee was $300.00. I sold my 25oz jars for $16.00, my 16oz jars for $12.00 and my 8oz for $6.00. I sold out of the 8oz jars, and a lot of the 16oz jars, I brought home a lot of the 25oz jars. It was hot, some of my candles melted (tops) and some even turn colors. But I had fun.

Ther ewas a guy selling FO for $80 (80 lbs), someone else telling me to go to the dollar store to get my jars, someone else telling me where to buy cheap wicks, someone else telling me to change up my jar shape and of course they all can provide me these items at a good price. When I go into the testing part of the business they are dumb founded and walk away. When I tell them about a hot/cold throw they walk away, when I ask about a melt pool they walk away. How about this, someone walked up tp me and said "Do you get your candle making kits from Walmart?" I got one at home.

Does anyone have a letter that they send to salons, spas, boutiques' etc.... describing thier products trying ot create a wholesale account?Thanks
